Introduction
Brays Bayou FC is a nondescript fourth-division club in the USA managed by Mr_Wednesday. The club has advanced as high as division III in league play and the eighth round of the U.S. Open Cup.
League History
Since its inception in Season 19, the club has earned three medals, for winning series V.84, V.146, and IV.20. After promoting to IV.40 in a qualifier against The Matza Men (defunct), the club played four qualifiers to retain position (winning all four) and finished fourth once. In season 28, a run of bad luck and a very competitive series led to Brays being demoted to series V.146. The club was expected to easily win the series and autopromotion back to division IV, but an unexpected loss away to AC Prior and horrific luck in the final weeks and match of the season (plus a few basic managerial errors) led to LSD Chicago SC stealing the series and promotion. In season 30, the club sleepwalked to autopromotion into IV.20 and followed that campaign with a second autopromotion in season 31. The club lucked into a fourth-place finish in its first season in III.4, but was demoted to IV.18 following a qualifier loss after season 32. After a second-place finish in season 33 and a third-place finish in season 34, the Meyerland XI has opened season 35 with a four-match win streak in league play.
Cup History
Longest Run
The longest cup run for the Meyerland XI occurred in season 30, as the side advanced to an 8th round matchup with Major League side San Diego de Alcala. Despite being badly outplayed, the club only lost by a single goal in the 93rd minute, 2 - 1 AET. This match marks the only visit of a Major League side for competitive play, although Drunk&Disorderly had played at Braesmont Park in a DarqCup match.
Previous performances
- In season 29, Brays advanced to a 7th round matchup with Byzantines of II.2, losing 4 - 1.
- In season 24, Brays bowed out in the 6th round to then-division III side Lineboys United.
Notable Players
Keeper Pancho Parme has made several appearances among the top 30 keepers in division IV, according to Hatstats. Winger Sever Popescu has likewise appeared among the top 30 wingers in division IV. Parme has produced star ratings ranging up to 8.0, Popescu up to 7.0. Former Winger Jean-Maurice Rossignol came up just short of the Canadian U-20 side in season 29, as he was the fourth-best 20-year-old winger and they only took three. Winger Asher James-Roxby would have been a possible Canadian U-20 for season 32, but the Canadians failed to qualify and therefore never used him. Winger Wolfhard Pirchler was a possible candidate for Brazil U-20 for season 33, but fell short of the necessary skill level.
