Cupa Minerilor

Cupa Minerilor (Miners Cup in English) is a prestigious Romanian friendly competition, which is held each season.
On 6th of August 2008, has started the 8th edition of the Cupa Minerilor with 48 competitors from 11 different countries. The Cupa Minerilor tried every season to be an international competition and in all these 8 editions, the teams representing other countries than Romania where at least 7 and at most 16. Another important fact regarding the Cupa Minerilor are the prizes involved, which are pretty high for a friendly competition. On each Cupa Minerilor edition, the best 4 teams were rewarded with prizes consisting in Hattrick-Supporter packages of 1 year, 6 months or 3 months, SMS-minutes or even T-shirts customized to fit its winner's preferences.
The competition is organized by the user Zibling and every season (with only 1 exception - 7th edition), his team participated in this prestigious competition. Among the users that kept running the Cupa Minerilor are the following: terces_zy, marcelcelrau, bjohnelu, kabarky, Mihaius, kafka78, danpana and more others.
The format of the Cupa Minerilor was different from edition to edition, and it was modified after the suggestions of the participating users. The first part of the competiton passed through the following formats: a robin round for 4 groups with 4 teams each, a rbin round for 8 groups with 4 teams, a tournament with preliminary groups before the usual group stage and finally a 48 teams group stage with 8 groups and only 1 match played against each other on neutral ground.
Even the rules by which the Cupa Minerilor was played evolved every edition to comply with the suggestions of the participating users.
