Super River Plate was the first team to seriously challenge Boca Juniors supremacy in Primera División. Managed by jgalotti, they were formidable competitors, making for memorable competitions such as season 21 and season 22. In season 23, only two after being champion, Super River Plate finished 7th and was relegated, never to return to Primera Division again. Super River Plate was abandoned circa 2005.
