Arena: MERCENARIES DOME
A scorching day at MERCENARIES DOME, where 4144 spectators were in place for today's match. Mercenaries decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players had been chosen: Schliessleder - Popescu, Nica, Krasser - Öh, Vlaicu, Mörnlius, Alessio - Flaig, Alrøe, Jakutowicz.
Mathematics had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Salonpuro - Yue Shun, Xiaoping,
Kościółek, Pagkalos, Thien Hu - Chi hong, Chong Wai, Juh shiun - Kwong, Li Seng.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Mathematics on this day. Paweł Jakutowicz's name was
chanted throughout the stadium after his 6th minute goal up the middle gave Mercenaries the 1 - 0 lead. Mercenaries's Oskar
Krasser saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates in the 7th minute.
A long pass from the defence of Mathematics resulted in a counterattack that set Hei Chong Wai free, but the keeper made a
spectacular diving save. In the 32nd minute, Mercenaries's Petre Popescu found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 2
- 0. The structure of the game started to change as Mercenaries decided to pull back and meet their opponents in their own half.
A great pass from the defensive line of Mathematics resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly dealt with by Ye Li Seng in the
centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. Petre Popescu of Mercenaries was booked for kicking the ball
away after the whistle. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Mercenaries held the ball, with a clear 85 percent of possession.
Mercenaries's Craciun Nica got himself booked for a foul. 50 minutes into the game, Yu Kwong had to leave the pitch due to a knee
injury. In came Jiang Hongbo. After an industrious effort down the middle, Petre Popescu could have closed the game off in the
53rd minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. Mathematics's Wilhelm Kościółek left the field after 63 minutes because of a
nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Ye Chong Boon. Paweł Jakutowicz should probably have put his team up another goal in
the 69th minute, but some great goaltending by Samu-Pekka Salonpuro kept the visitors in the game. Mercenaries, bringing their
ball possession to 90 percent, dominated the battle.
Mercenaries's top performer was clearly Lars Öh. Marco Alessio turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important
Mathematics player was Samu-Pekka Salonpuro. Jiang Hongbo turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
