The U-20 World Cup is an international tournament for National Teams. A new U-20 World Cup campaign is started nearly as soon as the old campaign is completed, which takes two seasons. The tournament is being held for the 15th time currently.
The final rounds of a U-20 World Cup campaign are hosted by one nation. This nation is determined by the HTs. U-20 World Cup XIII will be held in Canada, the second North American country organising the final rounds. The first U-20 World Cup was hosted in season 16 by Deutschland, one season after the first World Cup had been played. The first U-20 World Cup started with the 40 top teams according to the ranking. The other 10 teams competed for a minor cup called Emerging Leagues U20 Cup at the same time. Thirteen countries were or are being visited so far for the final rounds of the U-20 World Cup. Oceania has been visited once, North America, Africa, Asia and South America twice each and Europe four times.
Unlike the World Cup, the U-20 World Cup offers a lot of chances to motivated teams with a smaller user base or shorter history in Hattrick. Because players are only eligible until their 21st birthday, U-20 competition places a premium on organization and training, and there is very little carry-over from one competition to the next.
Six countries have won the U-20 World Cup so far: Italia once, Eesti and Norge twice, and România,Deutschland and Sverige thrice. Eesti and Deutschlandhave won the most medals, five. Sverige and Deutschland are the only countries to have won two consecutive U-20 World Cups.
Modus operandi
The qualification round starts with U-20 national teams from all countries that are a part of Hattrick at the start of the campaign.

| The world cup format
The World Cup begins every second season and starts with a qualification round. 32 teams advance from this round to the World Cup. There are three round-robin group stages, with 4 teams to a group and the top two teams qualifying for the next stage. The final two rounds are playoff matches, beginning with the semi-finals and culminating in the World Cup Final. The U-20 World Cup begins a season after the World Cup, and follows the same format. Seeding for World Cup Round I is based on ranking, which is determined by previous World Cup results. When no World Cup matches are scheduled, the national teams can play friendlies. | |
