The World Cup is an international tournament for National Teams. A new World Cup campaign is started nearly as soon as the old campaign is completed, which takes two seasons. The tournament is being held for the thirteenth time currently.
The final rounds of a World Cup campaign are hosted by one nation. This nation is determined by the Hattrick Team. World Cup XIII will be hosted by Greece. The first World Cup ever was hosted by Nippon and Hanguk back in 2002, the same year these countries also hosted the real-life world cup. The same happened again in 2006 when Deutschland hosted the cup both in Hattrick and in real-life.
Only one country has hosted a World Cup twice so far, Deutschland (U-20 World Cup I and World Cup VIII).
Only two countries have won the normal World Cup more than once: Sverige, Deutschland and Norge. Sverige also managed a title Hattrick twice, winning World Cups I to III and World Cups V to VII. At the time, Sverige had a significant advantage in quality of players due to the age of their league and the number of teams in it, but this advantage has eroded significantly in recent competitions. In fact, Sverige missed qualification for the finals in World Cup X and has not qualified again since.
The World Cup has visited 18 nations so far: five from Asia, three from North America, three from South America and seven from Europe. This means all continents except Africa and Oceania have hosted a World Cup.

The qualification round starts with national teams from all countries that are a part of Hattrick at the start of the campaign.

| The world cup format
The World Cup begins every second season and starts with a qualification round. 32 teams advance from this round to the World Cup. There are three round-robin group stages, with 4 teams to a group and the top two teams qualifying for the next stage. The final two rounds are playoff matches, beginning with the semi-finals and culminating in the World Cup Final.
