Fluster:

This page is used together with the Ideas, Approved ideas and the Rejected ideas pages. When editing, please make sure that the contents of these pages match each other.

The purpose of this page is to provide the list of what might constitute a bug in a game for the Hattrick team to correct.

If something you believe is obviously wrong, please post it here.

Do not list bugs that can be abused by other managers -- these should be mailed to your local GMs instead!

Guestbook message numbers
The message numbers in the 'Guestbook section' are off.

For example, a guestbook containing 98 messages (as of 25.09.2005) has the following pager part:

Next 10

98-78 78-58 58-38 38-18 18-1

It's obvious that the step used is 20 and not 10. Also this should normally read 98-79 78-59 or 98-89, 88-79 etc. -- not the way it is done on the guestbook page.

Also, on the first page shown are the messages from #98 down to #89, i.e. the last 10 messages. Clicking on the '98-78' link lists them again, instead of the 21 message indicated here. After that the step is 20: clicking on the 78-58 link, for example, lists the messages from #79 to #59.

Character counter in edit boxes
When typing press announcements, guestbook messages or HT mails, the number of characters is limited, but the counter indicating the number of characters left is a little off sometimes. This may result in the loss of the last couple of characters of your message. One possible reason for this is that the character counter might not be handling CR/LF character pairs properly. Also, it is possible that the character counter doesn't take into account the title of the announcement or message, which is included in the character count calculation.

Challenges misspelled in page name
It's challanges.asp.

Last club money is paid to the teams that change owners
When a player is sold that has played some games in his previous owner team, then that team is entitled to a certain small % of his sale price. If the previous owner team (referred to as the "last owner" in the rules) has changed owners since then, the money will go to the new owner, which sometimes amounts for a lot of cash for a most likely starting team. This works for mother club money as well.

Teams with 2+ top scorers get 2+ top scorer bonus messages
If two or more players are tied for the top scorer award in a series, and they both belong to the same team, that team receives one message saying "You receive the top scorer bonus" for each player, thus seemingly awarding that bonus more than once. However, the bonus is actually paid once, as it should according to the rules.

International challenge that's already booked cannot be accepted message
Early Wednesday the message looks like this:
Challenges: 1
[team name]
Venue: [arena, rules]. Booked! The challenge cannot be accepted right now! International friendlies can only be arranged from Thursday to Tuesday.

Injury of National or U20 players can be seen before game ends
If you have a National or U20 team player in your squad you can check the player list of that National or U20 team just after the game has been calculated (between 15 minutes before kick off and when the match report starts to appear). On this list you can see if he will be injured in the game he is playing or not.

Squad size of 50+ results in unpredictable lineups
If you have more than 50 players in your team some of them may not be in the line-up for a match you have made resulting in a line-up with less than 11 players. It is unclear which players cannot be selected for the line-up. Example matchid: 83934073

Pops from nonexistent to disastrous not reported
Training pops from nonexistent to disastrous skill level do not appear in a team's training report.

character counter
You don't think the pixelwidth blabla was a good explanation? The title-included theory certainly isn't. ;-)
--ukelele 08:29, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

:If you understand something about databases you can disregard outright the pixel theory. As for the character count explanations in the current article, they are both quite plausible depending on the structure of the database. --Jhattara 08:34, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

::I know little about databases, but i know something about webdesign and fitting a certain amount of characters in a box that's limited by pixelwidth can be problem. Typing only 'www' instead of 'iii' will matter a lot in a non-monospaced font. The messegebox is just (i.e.) 200x200 pxl and it can't stretch if you decide to type 300 w's. But I'm not sure on this at all, just a theory. If HT weren't down I would go and check straight away. --ukelele 08:49, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

:::The textbox where you enter the text might be of limited size, but everywhere where the data is shown varies in height according to the amount of data entered. The limit on characters used is almost certainly related to the amount of characters allowed in appropriate database sections. And there is no feasible way to limit the amount of text you enter according to how much space it would take with a non-monospace font. --Jhattara 10:15, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

::::That sounds feasible. It just came to me that if the pixel theory were true, your post would probably end with half, cut thought the middle, characters. So it's bull afterall. ;-)

Why in the bugs page there are links to non-ht sites? This is spam.

:Yes, it was spam. It's quite frequent in here and can be dealth easily by reverting to the older version of the page. --Jhattara 12:24, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

It is quite clear that the error in the character counter is caused by new line characters and this can easily be tested by anyone who counts how many new lines his post has. This is also not a Hattrick specific problem, but one that arises all over the web. --Fluster 22:01, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

TS-drops when selling players
This seems completely false. Even some research that has been posted on the wiki refutes this. -- Jake 17:03, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
:It's true. That research is outdated. The feature seems to be broken since the server problems in March this year. --ukelele 17:15, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Loss of formation experience due to transfers
This bug was repaired on august 21, 2006 --ukelele 20:15, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

: Is that something that was announced, or did you observe an instance of the supposedly non-functioning exp loss on that date? --Mr Wednesday 21:36, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

:: This bug was reported by members of the Weetjewat federation and it was fixed the day after, along with the ts-drop when selling players bug. There was no official announcement. --ukelele 20:57, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
TS-drops when selling players
based on opinion
Is the 'based on opinion' template appropriate on this page? This are all established facts. --ukelele 20:11, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

: I'd go with "based on research", but not "based on fact" since the HT's have verified little to none of these bugs. -- Jake 20:18, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

::maybe a new template 'based on experience' is in order. --ukelele 20:20, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

:::There's already a template for "based on research". We have three templates for game-information: based on opinion for information that is considered "common knowledge" but isn't easily verifiable, based on research for information that has been gleaned from research using actual in-game data, and based on fact for information that the HTs have said using the rules, public conferences, MyHT, or an editorial.

Last club money is paid to the teams that change owners
I disagree of the existance of this bug. I have heard several times that previously owned players do appear in the bids page of the new owner of the team, but no money is received. More accurately, I recall that the percentage announced in the bids page is zero, and thus the amount of money paid will also be zero. But I do agree that the policy of old players appearing in the bids page can be confusing. --Fluster 22:01, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
