He scored a memorable curving strike in an U20 World Cup match against Columbia. A bright future with the National setup was predicted for Fukuzawa when he scored on his debut against Israel and then found the net again in the following match, a victory over China, but did not like his role as a target-man upfront and blasted the manager's tactics at a press conference regarding the matter. He then went as an unused substitute for several matches before losing his place in the team. Fukuzawa has recently gotten into the wine business by purchasing a vineyard in California's Napa Valley. He prefers Pinot Noir.
