== Guestbook message numbers ==

The message numbers in the 'Guestbook section' are off.

For example, a guestbook containing 98 messages (as of 25.09.2005) has the following pager part:

It's obvious that the step used is 20 and not 10. Also this should normally read 98-79 78-59 or 98-89, 88-79 etc. -- not the way it is done on the guestbook page.

Also, on the first page shown are the messages from #98 down to #89, i.e. the last 10 messages. Clicking on the '98-78' link lists them again, instead of the 21 message indicated here. After that the step is 20: clicking on the 78-58 link, for example, lists the messages from #79 to #59.

== Character counter in edit boxes ==

When typing [[press announcement]]s, [[guestbook]] messages or [[HT mail]]s, the number of characters is limited, but the counter indicating the number of characters left is a little off sometimes. This may result in the loss of the last couple of characters of your message. One possible reason for this is that the character counter might not be handling CR/LF character pairs properly. Also, it is possible that the character counter doesn't take into account the title of the announcement or message, which is included in the character count calculation. Furthermore, handling of accented characters (possibly those of 2 bytes width in unicode?) is right on the client side but bad on the server side (= messages are cut well before the expected boundary). This can be reproduced eg. using Hungarian accented unicode characters (eg. ű or ő).

When a player is sold that has played some games in his previous owner team, then that team is entitled to a certain small % of his sale price. If the previous owner team (referred to as the "last owner" in the rules) has changed owners since then, the money will go to the new owner, which sometimes amounts for a lot of cash for a most likely starting team. This works for mother club money as well.

== Teams with 2+ top scorers get 2+ top scorer bonus messages ==

If two or more players are tied for the top scorer award in a series, and they both belong to the same team, that team receives one message saying "You receive the top scorer bonus" for each player, thus seemingly awarding that bonus more than once. However, the bonus is actually paid once, as it should according to the rules.

The Hattrick community is generally regarded as one of the best aspects of the game, with a userbase of over 700,000 people to interact with. Within the game, the community is built by the [[Conference]]s, [[HT mail]], [[guest book]]s of [[supporter]]s. There are also many other websites devoted to the community, such as Hottrick, [[HattriX]], [[Ione.se]] and the [[Bottom Division Federation]] Sites. Some players hardly take part in the community at all, while others are very active. If you violate the [[rules]] the [[GM]]s and [[MOD]]s have several ways of penalizing the violator, among which a ban is considered to be one of the most severe measures. You will be excluded from the game. Often only the [[team]] is banned and the [[user]] is allowed to apply for a new team.

Again, it’s impossible for us to discuss individual cases publicly because there are only two parties that have the information – the investigated user, and the GMs. Everyone else will have to take someone’s word for what has happened, which makes the discussion of the specific case entirely pointless. On top of that, it’s a matter of privacy – there would be no way for us to “defend” a decision without breaching the privacy agreement with the user in question.

For the same reason, you’re not allowed to post your correspondence with GMs on Hattrick or elsewhere. This is because it is a private communication, but also because it by definition creates an impossible situation for the GM. It makes life easier for prospect cheaters, for one thing. Also, the thing that happens when a case is discussed in a public forum is that it becomes a popularity contest, which can never solve the case at hand. If you are unhappy with a GM decision or attitude, it’s perfectly possible to discuss this without bringing specific cases into question. Try it.
