''It's because they're unable to handle the pile of complains that are unleashed once they show up somewhere. You need a very thick skin and a lot of patience to do HT-Anne's job ;)''
------
First of all: yes you most certainly need a thick skin, a lot of patience and a bunch of other qualities to do HT-Anne's job. Hanging around on forums sounds so easy but it isnt. :-)

As for the lack of other HTs on the forums I think it is down to several reasons. Some general ones and some individual ones.

We have a few HTs who in some way or the other has the forum activity (to various degrees) in their job descriptions (like HT-Anne, HT-Tjecken, HT-Johan and HT-Aartspam).

As a developer I know it is appriciated both by the company and the users to show up on the forums once in a while. For me it goes in periods. I usually read threads but post more rarely. When you post (and being a HT) I feel you're also required to follow that thread closely and reply to the replies and so on. This takes some time and focus away from the other stuff you have on your table at the moment. Sometimes posting on the forum and follow up on that thread is very much worth that and sometimes it is not. That doesnt mean that there are interesting and important threads out there where I dont post... And I sure know I can do better in this aspect.

As for complains scaring HTs away from the forums I'd say it is an individual reason. I understand that when a developer suddenly shows up people take the chance to ask all sorts of questions and complain about stuff. And the more invisible the developers get the more of those questions and complains we will get when we show up. So it is kind of a self propelled system. :-)

(But you can rest asured that HT-Ann and the other more visible HTs do carry questions and complains forward to us. Quite often packaged in a way we can consume faster than being part of the thread ourselves so communication via the forums isn't just a dead end).

I'm sure there are many reasons that combined explains why the developers are quite seldom seen on the open forums. I think we need to do better on this as there is a lot to learn from the community and as a developer you can also draw strength from the community.

(This doesnt mean we should develop everything the community asks for though and it doesnt mean that stuff you ask for that isnt being developed is non-existent because we dont know about the suggestions. We always have to weigh in stuff like resources, what is a Hattrick-feature, what a suggested change has for effect on the game as a whole and so on (quite big stuff actually)).

The emphasis something I wrote above I can say I spent like 10-15 minutes to read this thread (not read all of it yet) and then at least as much thinking and writing this post. I guess I've spent in total 30-40 minutes on this thread (not including potential future follow up) and a part of me is questioning if this was worth it since I have 3 projects with deadlines within the next 7 days. Another part of me thinks it is well worth it. So it is a struggle :-)

(And I didnt write and think so very slow, I actually also communicated via Skype in some other work issues and so on while composing this post :-) ).

So in essence; we should try to be more visible on the forums but there are a number of reasons why it is easy not to be as visible as at least I would like to be.

And; if I dont follow up very much on this post it is because I have the 3 project deadlines and then my vacation awaits me.
