Asia is a continent, but in Hattrick, the Asian transfer market is a part of the Asia, Africa and Oceania zone.

Geography.png Asia is the world's largest continent, and is defined by subtracting Europe from Eurasia. Asia is either regarded as a landmass of its own, or the central and eastern part of Eurasia.

The boundary between Asia and Europe runs via the Dardanelles, the Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus, to the Black Sea, the Caucasus Mountains, the Caspian Sea, the Ural River to its source, and the Ural Mountains to the Kara Sea at Kara, Russia.

The demarcation between Asia and Africa is the isthmus of Suez (although the Sinai Peninsula, being a part of Egypt east of the canal, is often geopolitically considered a part of Africa).

Continental Championship

Starting from global season 77 (January 2021), Asia has its own tournament, just like in real life as the World Cup and U-21 World Cup qualifiers also function as continental competitions.

All regional National teams in Hattrick are guaranteed a place. The continental championship is played in groups of 6 teams, home and away, over 10 weeks. The best teams from the group stages enter the "final eight".

Oceania "plurinational" country is also included, making it a Asia-Oceania Championship.

Other countries

About 60 percent of the world's human population lives in Asia and several Asian countries, although FIFA members, are not included in Hattrick at the moment. Only Africa is missing even more big countries on Hattrick's country map.

They are possible additions for the future:

Country Internet Users in 2008 [1]
Afghanistan 535,000
Bhutan 30,000
Laos 25,000
Myanmar 300,000
Nepal 317,000
North Korea Unknown
Tajikistan 20,000
Timor-Leste 1,000
Turkmenistan 65,000

Some other territories are not elegible due to several reasons:

  • Macau - a FIFA member, but they are dependent of a metropole China and a chinese region in Hattrick,
  • Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic - not part of FIFA and lacking international recognition.
