Benin is a country in Western Africa. The symbol of the national team is the squirrel ("Les Écureuils"), but, since 2018, negotiations are underway to change it.

History

In its 4th season, Benin's U-20 national team qualified for the second round of U-20 World Cup XII under the lead of Cortomaltese. Lee_QdM (U-20 World Cup XXVIII) and Fr4nz_QdM (U-20 World Cup XXIX) also succeeded. The last-mentioned, in 2019, manages to qualify the squad to Round 4, the best result ever for Benin U20.

National Teams

Senior National Team

Benin began international play in qualifying for World Cup XI. The team has never advanced out of qualification; their best finish is 7th in their group in qualification for World Cup XII and World Cup XIII.

U-20 National Team

Main article: Benin U-20 national team

Benin began international play during the final rounds of U-20 World Cup X. The team's first official competition was in qualifying for U-20 World Cup XI. Despite their young age and small user base, Benin scored a shocking upset in advancing to Round 2 of U-20 World Cup XII under the management of Cortomaltese, in only their second entry into the competition. In recent times, Lee_QdM has also managed to qualify Benin for the U-20 World Cup XXVIII in Sweden. Fr4nz_QdM finally succeeded in repeating Lee's "deeds" in the current mandate (U-20 World Cup XXIX, Kazakhstan). On 4 October 2019, Fr4nz_QdM (together with his extraordinary staff) managed to qualify the team to Round 4, thus signing the best result ever for this National Team.
