On 7 October 2018, Gouden Carolus Classic received Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track as part of the 10th matchday of season 69 of the VI.87 series. Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track went into the match as Unofficial Clubteams World Champions, turning this into a UCWC title match, they managed to remain UCWC champion easily through a 0-6 victory. With Gouden Carolus Classic without any points going into the match, nothing less was expected.

Match report

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 12000 to Gouden Carolus Class Arena. Gaweł Nowosad was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Schorsch Schertel and Obaid Al-Nema.

Carolus's starters: Kinsabil - Sluiters, Hafsi, Giroux, Ceysens - Vandeputte, Swinnen, Lambinet, Rochas - Blyth, Schiettecatte. The following players had been chosen by Back-on-Track: Ballout - Bergamaschi, Garardi - Curiel, Guðjónsson, Van Keymeulen, Otchigin, Sourbron - Jahnick, Paşcan, Razlog.

Gouden Carolus Classic started the game in a 4-4-2 formation, whereas Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track lined up in a 2-5-3 formation.

First half

It seemed as though Back-on-Track considered the game won before even taking the field, which resulted in a very uninspired start to the game. Carolus's Ivo Vandeputte set up a perfect opportunity for Raphaël Rochas, but the latter failed to score. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 21 minutes into the match, and Eduardo Garardi wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. The visitors added to their lead 31 minutes into the game, after a sensational penalty kick by Back-on-Track's Giulio Bergamaschi slid just past the home keeper. 0 - 2. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Back-on-Track, with 72 percent of the ball.

Second half

The visitors' Israel Curiel took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and center-backs 52 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Back-on-Track. 67 minutes into the game, Back-on-Track worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. After 74 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed Eduardo Garardi to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 4. The referee showed Carolus's Aloysius Lambinet the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Qutugh Otchigin received a delicate pass through the home side's central defense after 78 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The Back-on-Track fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. With 79 minutes played, Back-on-Track put themselves up 0 - 6 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Jan Sourbron. Giulio Bergamaschi came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over Frans Kinsabil but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. Paul Blyth of Carolus received a yellow card after 82 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minute of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 0 - 6. Back-on-Track enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 77 percent of possession.

Post match

The most dominating Carolus player was without a doubt Aloysius Lambinet. Frans Kinsabil was a disappointment, however. Dory Ballout performed admirably for Back-on-Track. On the other hand, Ove Guðjónsson's play was disheartening.
