It managed to sneak out for a short period of time a few weeks ago, but now it's here for real - the friendly pool. See MyHT space for the announcement!

Finding a friendly has never been so easy as now, and as a Supporter you will also find it a lot easier to find that perfect friendly (right flag etc etc). I hope you like it a lot!

As usual, if you got any questions or so I'll gladly answer as many as I can. :)

Where do I find the pool?

On the challenge page. But you better get knocked out of the cup fast, otherwise you'll have to wait some weeks before you can use it. :)

will there be a friendly pool for youthmatches too?

Yes, this feature will hit the youth academies with some time too. Not sure if it will hit it before the design is changed though.

Very nice improvement. Congratz.

However, isn't it strange to start this friendly pool while most of the teams are still in the cup, unable to check the new things out?

You can see it that way, you can also choose to see it from "why let those who unfortunately don't play in the cup wait any longer"-perspective. :)

Will the system of today still be there?

Cause I think I rather look for my opponent myself.

The "old" system will also be there, so you can have it any way you like.

And is your match directly arranged when using the pool or can we affirme it?

It's directly arranged in most occasions (depends on the criteria of course).

I'm still in the cup, but how can I have 13 teams in the rol?

I didn't put them in there...

The pool is there whether or not you can jump into the water :)

Of course you didn't, it's not connected to your team at all. It just says how many added teams there are currently in the pool (ie, how many teams that have added themselves but still haven't been matched).

It's difficult to talk in the dark, but that number means that there are 13 teams in the pool, or I only see the ones that match the criteria I choosed?

That the sum of all teams in the pool is 13, not just the ones matching your criteria. As a Supporter you can browse the pool, and then you can see how many that are available for you.

2 will bot-teams will be in this pool? (could be a good solution to reduce spam to users of small countries)

Nope.

We had an idea to implement a safety net for teams that for some reason (too tight criteria for example) don't get a friendly by Monday/Tuesday. First that you could say "if my criteria can't be found, match me with any team on Tuesday", and if there would still be one team left it could face a bot team. That part is not included yet though, but might perhaps be a coming feature.

Great tool indeed. I used it on stage and got friendlies without challenging a lot.

One question. Who gets the opponent if there are two or more teams with the same criteria? For example lots of teams put a small country in their criteria. Now user from that country puts his team in the pool without any restrictions. Will he play against the one who put his team in the pool first?

Good question, normally you face the team who's given the most criteria if there are more than one available team. But if all criteria are the same I don't know, I'll see if I can find that out for you.

Being able to choose the league level of your opponent is an advantage in money which means a core-game advantage for supporters, isn't it?

No, as everyone still can arrange a friendly the old way with a high level team it's not an advantage. Moreover, it takes two to tange and most high level teams are playing the cups for most of the season. When they're out, they usually tend to play with friends or other high level teams (as they usually care for high attendance as well). I doubt they will start to rely on a random opponent just because the pool exists.

It's directly arranged in most occasions (depends on the criteria of course).

So, we can set criteria?

What kinds of criteria are there?

The default for all user is to add yourself to the pool facing "any" team. You can however choose to play an international match, or a local national match. Apart from that you can choose to play home or away (or any), and you can choose cup rule or normal rules.

As a Supporter you can choose all leagues and also specify league level. And you can browse the pool.

The answer is: if two (or more) teams have given the exactly the same amount of criterias and exactly the same criteria, the team who've added his team first to the pool will get the match.

Would it be possible to search the pool for a friendly, without being entered into it yourself?

If you're a supporter you can browse the pool and search for available teams.

Would it be possible in the future for us to use countries as exclusion criteria, this would make flag chasing more fun as it would enable flag chasers to join the pool and get a random country added to there flag collection, without getting a flag they already have.

I don't know if it's possible (might be too hard for the servers to cope with it), and secondly I don't even know if it's a good thing to have such an automatic tool for flag chasing. Then it wouldn't really be "chasing" anymore...

Some test users wanted the possibility to add yourself with different conditions (ie, multible times), and that may be ok with some restrictions perhaps. Don't know it that will happen either, but if so, it'll have to wait at least.

Are you going to implement this for U-20 and NT friendlies?

Would save a WHOLE lot of hassle.....have you seen the amount of posts it takes to arrange matches for NT friendlies?

We haven't really thought about that, but if it's possible I can't see why not to do that in the future.

Okay, let's ask one who should know.

Dear Tjecken,

do we have to enter the pool again every week, or will we stay in the pool once we entered it until we quit by purpose?

You have to enter the pool every week.

With regards to the first user to enter the pool given priority when several teams match the requirements...

If I change my requirements after a while (for example allowing more leagues), will this count as leaving and re-entering the pool, or will I keep my position?

The former I think.

Hello,

I'm sorry if this question has already been made :

Are you guys thinking of implementing a somewhat similar system for youth leagues ? I do find the current system quite user-unfriendly, and really think some improvement should be made in that aspect :s

We haven't really thought about it for the youth leagues, and I don't know if you just can use the same mechanism. But it's a good idea, that's for sure!

Arranging youth friendlies really sucks! There needs to be a solution urgently!

You'll get the pool for youth friendlies, that's already on the list and being worked on.

(I was talking about youth _leagues_ in my post above, if someone misunderstood that)

Has the friendly-cup-system come a step closer now? Maybe you can think of a system where users need to accept the match every week (so users still have to log in)

I can't say that such a feature has come one step closer or one step away just because the release of the friendly pool. In a way we already got that feature (but for youth teams), and we got no current plan to make a similar thing for senior teams. But as far as I'm concerned, we haven't totally dismissed that idea.

The ugly thing is that now there are already 217 teams in the Pool, which I suppose are teams from countries who have played before.

No, those are teams who haven't played yet this week. After all friendlies have been played, the pool is cleared and then opened up again.
