Hatstats is a statistics website for Hattrick matches. It was originally created and maintained by an Oceania Hattrick player, Griggle. It has since been re-released by GM-Cyntech. Griggle used a numerical score based on the teams ratings in the match as an overall measurement compare the teams. This rating has since become an integral feature of many other statistical websites and programs.

On 8 July 2011, GM-Cyntech announced the return of Hatstats[1], revamped for CHPP 2.0 in the light of Alltid's demise in 2011. It was re-released, initially for Oceania, on February 7, 2012.

HatStats Rating

How it's calculated

It is calculated from the ratings as follows:

The Attack and Defence Ratings are simply added up from the left, middle and right ratings. The ratings have to be transformed from skills into numbers first, of course. This is done the following way:

HatStat value per rating
Denomination very low low high very high
disastrous 1 2 3 4
wretched 5 6 7 8
poor 9 10 11 12
weak 13 14 15 16
inadequate 17 18 19 20
passable 21 22 23 24
solid 25 26 27 28
excellent 29 30 31 32
formidable 33 34 35 36
outstanding 37 38 39 40
brilliant 41 42 43 44
magnificent 45 46 47 48
world class 49 50 51 52
supernatural 53 54 55 56
titanic 57 58 59 60
extra-terrestrial 61 62 63 64
mythical 65 66 67 68
magical 69 70 71 72
utopian 73 74 75 76
divine 77 78 79 80

Notes

The rating may not agree exactly with the Supporter Statistics function "Best Match Ever", due to differences in the way the two are calculated, but both are intended as a quick summary of a team's performance in a match. Due to several factors (tactics, actual distribution of scoring opportunities), it is not necessarily the most accurate way to determine which team was most likely to win a game, but it's a quick and easy way to get a rough idea of the relative strengths of teams. Other, more complex, rating systems take tactics, scoring chance distribution, and various other factors into account, but this is at the cost of the simplicity and ease of calculation that Hatstats ratings provide.
