Jelmer brandis (90011459) is a legendary player of Sportieve Senioren in Belgium.
Early Carrière
Brandis started his career on 2 januari 2006 in the Belgian VIII.180 class with Sportieve Senioren. He was very talented and might even have reached the Belgian U-20 squad... if he was trained. But for unclear reasons Brandis wasn't trained until his 19th birthday. When his chances for the U-20 where long gone, something that he would never get over..
The rise of a hero
2 weeks after being promoted to the first team of Sportieve Senioren Brandis played his first match. Brandis was one of the 8 attackers on the field in the match that was lost 0 - 10..
Brandis becomes "Man of the Match" for the first time in his 4th (friendly) match.
A few days later his plays his first league match. It is a great succes. Brandis even scores a goal, it was the first time the public really noticed him.
He plays 6 league matches and scores 3 times in his first season, but returns to the bench when his form lowers.
At the start of the next season he plays his first cup match. Brandis scores his first cup goal.
That season he plays 13 league matches (he was suspended with 3 yellow card in the other match), it is the start of a long serie..
Career achievements
Jelmer Brandis played all official matches with sportieve senioren from 25 June 2006 till 13 July 2008
In his third season at the age of 19 Brandis won the title of top scorer in VIII.1935 with 14 goals.
He won the top scorer title 2 more times in VIII.1935.
Later he became top scorer in VIIth, VIth and Vth division series.
Brandis holds several clubrecords; he played most matches and scored the most goals, he also was teamcaptain and "man of the match" most.
Sportieve Senioren renamed their stadium for this remarkable hero into "Jelmer Brandis Stadion".
The cursed season
In season 23 Brandis gets badly injured 3 times.
In the first 4 weeks there are no problems and Brandis leads Sportieve Senioren for the first time to the 4th cup round.
But in week 4 he gets badly injured (+4), a team of doctors can't avoid the fact that Brandis misses his first official match in 8 seasons.. But they get him back for the match a week later so he only misses one game.. Only 2 weeks later Brandis gets an even worse injury (+7!)... Again the doctors get him back early... but no use.. Brandis gets injured again (for the third time that season!) at his comeback (+6)..
Brandis got 17 injury weeks in one season...
Team captain
Brandis had been captain for the first time in the Home-grown line-up, and after that several times in friendlies or unimportant league games. The first important game he was captain was the cup match against ThaRacingGenk. After the injury of captain Lance Wisman Brandis took over. He did that several times when the captains (surprisingly often) got injured. But at the start of season 24 team captain Mikael Myrin left the team and a new captain should be chosen.. Brandis took his chance. Meanwhile he has gained enough experience to stay captain untill the end of times...
National Team
After years of trying Jelmer Brandis debuted for the Belgian NT in August 2012 against Suriname (394051241).
Missing two major chances in the half he played Brandis isn't remembered as a very great NT talent.
He never tried to join the NT again..
However he remained proud of his cap:
Gained his first cap as he debuts for the National A squad of Belgium.
Coach
In May 2013 Brandis succeeded Toader Bordei as coach of Sportieve Senioren.
