Medic is a staff member that helps injured players rehabilitate faster, decrease the recovery time and reduce the injury risk.

## Characteristics

Having a Medic in the backroom staff will have two main effects: to reduce the base injury risk for your team (A level 5 Medic will reduce the base injury risk from 0.4 injuries per match to 0.025), but Medics also help speed up recovery if a player experiences an injury.

Example:

A level 5 Medic will double the recovery speed and reduce the base injury risk from 0.4 injuries per match to 0.025.

### Injury Risk

Every time your team plays a match, there is a certain injury risk for your players. Hiring Assistant Coaches (but also other factors) may increase this risk and having a Medic in the backroom staff will reduce the base injury risk for the whole team.

Note that the individual player's probability of getting injured should be roughly 1/11 of that team's probability shown in table.

Bruised player

The probability of not having any injured players in (X-1) games and ending that streak in game X is calculated as:

`P(X) = 100 * ( 1 - ( 1 - p / 100 ) ^ X )`
p is Probability of a team to suffer an injury in any game (see table above)

### Injury Recovery

If a player experiences an injury, Medic helps speed up the recovery. In Hattrick, injuries show up with an estimated recovery time in weeks. During every daily update, the player recovers a little bit on his way to 90% health, when he can play again, but is still bruised. Then, ultimately, to 100 % health, the player will show no sign of the injury left.

The graph below shows how much faster a player will recover fully from the same injury, depending on whether or not you have a Medic.
Example:

With no Medic, a 19 year old player will take 3 weeks to recover. With a level 2 Medic he will take around 2 weeks to recover. With a level 5 Medic this reduces to approximately one and a half weeks.
A 29 year old player with the same injury would take 6 weeks to recover with no Medic. A level 1 Medic reduces this to about 5 weeks. A level 5 Medic reduces it further to just under 3 weeks.

Medics are responsible for the overall physical condition of your players. This means they work both proactively to prevent injuries as well as with the rehabilitation of any players that do get injured.

## Comparison with old staff system

Doctor was the old specialist's name untill season 55. Before the staff reform, you could hire more than one specialist, but all without a skill level, to get faster healing.

It was safe to hire up to ten of them, but each additional doctor offered diminishing effects as ten docs didn't heal players twice as fast as five do.

When you employed more than ten doctors there was a chance that your supporter mood could drop at every daily update.
