Season Synopsis
Stadium
The Rode Ster Paramaribo stadium, the Karl Marx Arena, had 51.250 seats at the beginning of the season and was not enlarged.
Shirts
Rode Ster Paramaribo started this season with the first of a six-season series of special edition shirts that commemorate shirts worn by the favourite teams of manager Lunacharsky, each in a setting referring to a special period in those teams' history. Teams that will be featured are Olympic Charleroi, AFC Wimbledon, FC Sankt Pauli, RWD Molenbeek, Antwerp FC and Liverpool FC. In season 66, they started with the Olympic Charleroi shirt that was used in season 2006-07, the year the team last promoted to the Belgium Second Division.
Trainer
Season 68 was the last season for trainer Noah Wessel. He is set to retire at the end of the season and will be replaced by Lokman Bekdemir.
Season Summary
The team had the ambition to remain in second division, preferably without having to play the playoffs. The team continued to focus on training Suriname U20 star Walter Faverey. Scoring training was started and would be replaced by the end of the season with passing.
In the Suriname Cup, Rode Ster Paramaribo was eliminated in the second round against FinSuri United. They continued in the Sapphire Cup, but were eliminated in the first round against Julianatop Warriors.
In the competition, the team showed themselves a fierce competitor on the highest level. They won their first games, placing them first in the league. On matchday 5, RSP lost for the first time, against SA Kingsvillage Pioneers, after which they fell back on a second place. They returned to the first position soon, and remained there for the remainder of the season.
