It's unofficial U-20 Eurocup consisting of European nations teams (36 in total) playing for nothing but fun. The tournament was created to bring more fun in playing national teams friendlies during breaks in the official U20 World Cup tournament. The first matches of this tournament will start on March 30, 2007.

The tournament consists of 2 group rounds and playoffs. First 2 rounds will be held during break between U20 World Cup qualification round and Round II. Playoffs will be played during break between U20 World Cup Round II and Round III.

In the first round all 36 teams will play divided by 6 in each of 6 groups. 2 best teams of each of the groups will advance. The rest (24 other teams) could participiate in so called Consolation round (rules for this round is still work in progress...).

Playoffs will be the best part of this tournament - each match will be important!

The tournament is organized by Pirats (U-20 Belarus coach) and Brujas (U-20 België coach).

Main rules

Round I will start on March 30, 2007. 36 teams are divided in 6 groups and there will be 5 matches for each team in the group. Top 2 teams from each group will qualify for Round II.

Round II will start on May 4, 2007. 12 teams will create 3 groups with 4 teams in each. Each team in the group will play 3 matches. Each group winner and the best 2nd place team will qualify for Playoffs.

Playoffs will start on June 8, 2007 and all matches will be played on a neutral ground - Malta.

The playoffs schedule:

  • Semifinal matches will be played on June 8, 2007.
  • U20 Eurocup final match will be played on June 15, 2007

Tiebreakers

For Round I and Round II final standings as usual will be decided by points and goal difference. If 2 or more teams will get the same amount of points and will have the same goal difference, average TSI of the teams will decide the standings. Team with lower average TSI will be the winner in this situation.

For Playoffs, if it's a draw at the end of the match, average TSI of 11 players, who started the match, will be the tiebreaker. Team with lower average TSI will be the winner.
