"Hattrick announces" (also know as '''HT-News''', "My Hattrick announcements" or simply "News") are insights into updates written by the [[Hattrick Team]] and information on the development of [[Hattrick]].

Together with the [[System Information]], news are used to give an overall picture on the status of the website. But it also took on the role, between 2000 and 2005, of a space for [[editorials]] and for what would later become the [[Hattrick Blog|dev blog]].

It may not be obvious HOW to buy players
from a foreign league. The players
listed under Transfer is only the
available players currently for sale in
the league you are in right now. To look
in foreign leagues, you first have to go
to that league. Change league with the
popup in the upper left corner. Then
click Transfer in the menu. Remember,
what you see in Hattrick is always based
on in what league (ie country) you are

== 2005 ==

* [[Through passes]] which gives defenders and midfielders passing training. It is similar to "Short Passes", but this affects defenders and midfielders instead of forwards and midfielders, and it is 10-15% less effective (per position).

* [[Defensive positions]]. This is another training type that affects defenders and midfielders, but this one gives them Defender skill training. Basically your players are trained in how to position themselves while the team is defending. Since you can train roughly twice as many players in defense with this type, compared to pure defense training, it is roughly half as effective per player.

The purpose of these two new types is to further facilitate training of secondary skills. 

In addition to the two new training types mentioned below, we have also made the rarely used Shooting training about 25% more effective than before.}}

This improves the winger skill of players that have played either as forward or winger during the week. Since you can then give more players winger training than with the classic [[Crossing (Winger)]] training, the new Wing attacks training has a significantly smaller effect compared to the the classic Crossing (Winger) training. This new training type is available right now.

Clarification 1: Wing-backs do not get any particular effect from this training.
Clarification 2: It does not matter if the forward has played toward wing or not in the game. The individual order does not matter, only whether he has been forward/winger or not.}}

== 2006 ==

The first round will be played at 20th February, 08:00. }}

We're very annoyed that we missed this in the first draw, we were simply not aware of this fact. We discussed a couple of alternatives to fix this problem and came to the conclusion that the fairest way to solve this is to make a completely new draw. Our apologies to all affected users.

With this filter, any official betting ad or link on the site will be removed or replaced by something else. Some performance problems on the site have kept us busy earlier this week, which unfortunately has forced us to push the introduction forward one day from what was originally planned.

We want to give notice that we have started testing a new feature, [[substitutions|planned substitutions]]. This feature will make its way into the youth academies by August at the latest, and after that also into the senior teams. Planned substitutions allows you to create rules before a match starts that will trigger substitutions as the match is played. For example, you will be able to test unproven players late in a match, to replace tired players with fresh ones, or to make an offensive change if a game is slipping out of your hands.

Substitutions will obviously affect the tactical planning for your team, but also how you build your squad in the future. Maybe you need a few more players to succeed in the league or cup, and maybe a greater versatility in the squad opens up more tactical choices when you plan substitutions?

This is why we give you a heads up, more information will of course be announced prior to the release.

In practice this means that a player which normally would turn 23 years next season in fact is somewhere between 22 years, 57 days and 23 years, 56 days on Wednesday.
So, some of your players are really younger than they look and some are older. Experts claim either way is just as likely, which by coincidence also makes this new way to measure age fair for all users.}}

This invite feature has been tested in Spain, Denmark and the Netherlands, and is now available for everyone. Only users in the two lowest divisions can invite a friend to their series, and there has to be an available slot (a bot team, without an active invite reservation) in the series. If you're not playing in the two lowest divisions you can still invite a friend (MyHattrick-->Invites), but not to your own series. }}

== 2009 ==

* [[Long shots]] tactic trades side and middle attacks for long shots, quite similar to how attack in the middle/on the wings work. For successful long shots your players need both scoring and set pieces. You will be able to try long shots out in friendlies towards the end of this season, and you'll get more info about long shots then too.
* Transfer market regulation; you can't transfer list a player more times than he has played games for your team.
* Squad limit; you can't have more than 50 players in your squad.

In relation to the introduction of the long shots tactic we have also replaced the '''long shot special event''' with a “tactic-independent” long shot event which any team can get. See the manual (chapter 13) for more info. The manual is also up to date with the rest of the changes for this season.}}

You can choose the speed you want to use (or even watch event for event) - pausing it whenever you need to get more snacks. Please bear in mind that predicted ratings only indicate the strength of the team at the start of the game - final ratings will always be different.

Instead, what we are getting is a slimmer version that really works well within our existing system and design, and which we can build on without risking the performance of the core game. With these new stats pages, we have something that will really add new interesting content for all users and which we hope will be appreciated also by old Alltid users, even if it is not identical to the service they are used to.

Within this group, we will continue to be an independent studio focused on the two games we run today: [[Hattrick]] and [[Popmundo]]. We will also help the group to do what we are best at - building big browser-based simulation games with strong communities.

For those of us that have been along for the whole ride, this is of course a big day. We think this a good strategic move that will help develop Hattrick as well as our capabilities as a team. For the last couple of years, we have been quite conservative in terms of how we develop and market the game. Rather than continuing on this path, joining Zattikka will help us broaden the audience for Hattrick through investment in the core game, and through better marketing and analysis.

It has also been important to us that Zattikka recognises the great potential in Hattrick, and we are equally eager to keep building on Hattrick strengths in order to realise this potential.

Our immediate roadmap for developing the core game stays the same, as you can read in our recent editorial on the subject. We are encouraged by the positive feedback we have had from [[Tournaments]], and we will continue working on them, as well as on the new [[Ratings]] displays. We will also continue to improve the appeal of Hattrick to new users.

During the test phase some bids on the transfer list will be made by Stage users testing the autobid function.

;How will it work?
Bidding on players will be similar to bidding on items on eBay, and each user will be able to have one active autobid at any time. To use autobidding, users set a max bid for a player and the system automatically bids when needed, bidding the lowest possible bid (2% more than the earlier bid) up to the set maximum.

Users can of course still bid "as normal" (not using the autobid functionality) at any time.

;Why are we doing this?
First and foremost to give everyone a better transfer market experience. A lot of users find the current bidding system frustrating, and we don't want the transfer market to provide a negative experience. Buying a player should be a fun thing, and with autobidding we make it easier to do so plus we also remove any frustration experienced with the process. Moreover, prices will also fluctuate a lot less than what they currently do (which in turn makes it harder for traders to find 'bargains').

;When will this be released?
As said above, we will start testing this feature on Stage soon. When testing is completed and we know that everything works as it should, we'll release autobidding for everyone. How long that will take is impossible to say at this point, but we will do our utmost to keep this test phase as short as possible.}}

First of all you need Supporter Platinum to get an additional club, so if you want to secure a league spot now and haven't upgraded yet - it's time to upgrade. Just make sure to pay with cards or any other "fast" payment (so your Platinum can be activated in time).

When you register your additional club you will need to choose:

- League (country) to play in
- Region in that league
- Team name (has to be unique)

After you submit your application you will get immediate notification if you got a spot in that league or not. If there weren't any available slots left in that league, you will have to pick another league and resubmit your application.

Note that you can update both your new team name and region (without any cost) after submitting your application, until May 3rd.

On the application page you will also find information about how many available slots there are left for additional clubs in different leagues, and also general league info (match times, league size etc).

We've also decided on a small rule change regarding leagues that are close to full: we will reserve the final 10% of the available slots in a country for local users, but only up to a maximum of 1000 slots.}}

In a ladder your goal is to reach the highest rung and become the 'king of the hill'. To reach the top you challenge other teams listed above you in the ladder, and if you win you take their place in the ladder (and if you lose, you and the challenged team keep your positions).

In a ladder you may also be challenged by other teams, which means you will also need to defend your position (and if you happen lose a match where you're challenged, you drop a place in the ladder).

A ladder match costs 1 credit, and it's the challenger that pays. However, for the first week - it's totally free to play!

There are different type of ladders: Global, National, Regional and ladders based on when you started playing Hattrick (so you can compare yourselves with other teams that started at the same time).}}

Today we release the injury history for players with which you can track when your player got injured, for how long and in which match the injury occurred. The injury history goes back to May 2010, when we started storing this data, which should be far enough back for most players that are on the pitch today. Enjoy!}}

For the first time every manager in Hattrick will be guaranteed a place in a real cup. And even better - you will be guaranteed at least 3 matches as well.

If you play in League Level 6 or above this season, you will play in the National Cup of your league. Any team that is eliminated in the first 6 rounds will get a second chance in one of our Challenger Cups. If you are eliminated straight away there as well, you will get a chance in the Consolation Cup.

In large leagues, lower division teams (League Level 7 and below) will play a Divisional Cup instead. The mechanics are similar, but instead of competing against teams from different divisions, you only face teams from your own division level. There will still be a Challenger Cup and a Consolation Cup associated with these cups.

There is a new cup home page for your team, where you can check the status of your cup campaign and see your cup history. The best part about the new cups is that, as with the prize money for the leagues, which were raised last season, the prize money for the cup has also been significantly increased and prize money is also available from earlier rounds. So there will be lots of reasons to give the cup some serious consideration this year.

As mentor you will have view-only access to the teams you are mentoring and you will commit to help out with advice for at least eight weeks. You can mentor as many or as few as you like, and you can do it in a language that you are comfortable with.

Mentoring is fun, and it may very well give you friends for life, so give it a chance!}}

As tradition has it, we have a birthday present to the community today. This time it is a brand new research tool, which let's you quickly analyze the previous matches of your upcoming opponents. It’s located in your Club menu, in something we call [[Team Analysis]].

With this new feature, we continue to build on the design and technology we introduced with the new [[Introducing the new Live Viewer|Live Viewer]] earlier this summer. Just like the [[HT Live|Live Viewer]], this will be a dynamic page where you can play around with the data of each team, applying various filters, without having to load data over and over again.

Team Analysis is available for all users. Supporters have a few perks, such as a extra filters and access to older match data. We will continually improve this tool with new features and added data for both Supporters and non-Supporters, however, and we have a first such update coming in September! We really hope you will like it and find it useful.

Later this autumn, look out for a new editorial that will dig deeper in our product roadmap for the rest of the year and beyond. Now have some cake!}}

Now you can know for sure. With our new [[Hattrick Gears]] product you get to “replay” your match, simulating it 20 more times with the exact same starting players, form and tactics to get a summary of how all those matches would have ended.

Of course, this does not change the final result in any way, but it’s a great way to understand how probable a win or loss was in the first place.

Match Replay is available for 7 days after a match was played and costs 3 credits. It is also being made available to all National teams for free.

This feature already exists as part of the Hattrick Supporter Diamond package. Diamond supporters will still enjoy unlimited replays, but, from now on, there will be twice the amount of simulations to ensure a much better picture of the potential outcomes.}}

The new match order page has A LOT of new functionality, as well as a new visual design. The key new features are:

* You are now allowed up to 7 substitutes, and can also name back-up substitutes to each position on the bench;
* Build your match orders as well as team orders by dragging and dropping players directly on to the field;
* "Not tied" can now be used as a substitution criteria;
* When selecting your lineup, there will be suggestions for the best available player for each position;
* Player list sorting have been redesigned, removing some options and adding new, more powerful ones;
* Predicted player and sector ratings showed on the fly as you adjust lineups and tactical orders;
* This also includes minute-by-minute predicted ratings - see when stamina starts hitting your ratings and plan your subs accordingly!
* Compare your predicted ratings against your upcoming opponents recent lineup

…and many, many more small tweaks and improvements. This is a substantive change to the interface and we have done everything we could think of to make this crucial part of Hattrick more interesting, giving you as a manager all the information you need at hand when you pick out your line-up and your tactics.

Over the past two years we have tried to define a more modern Hattrick through the new Live Viewer and Match Order pages. There’s a lot with these pages that we like, but it is also clear that not all of you do. For this reason, we would like to invite the whole community to take part in a design competition, targeted at finding a better way to include modern web functionality in a visual design that respects the Hattrick legacy that we and our users value.

For our part, we want to use this as an opportunity to step back for a moment, allow new ideas to come forward and be tested, and only then decide on how a future Hattrick should look and feel. It’s time to lift our focus from the details, for a while, and try to see the bigger picture again.

Everyone is welcome to contribute and send proposals - it doesn’t even have to be users, if you know really sharp designers that might be able to “get” Hattrick, they are welcome too. Our hope is to find not only a winning design, but also to build a relationship with one or several designers that help us lead the visual design of Hattrick forward over time. We admit that this is not our strongest quality, so we need help and are willing to open up for great ideas.

For the first stage of the design competition we will ask for two page mockups and one page of text to explain the design. We let users vote on this, and we will reward the top 5 contributions in this vote with 1,000 EUR each. For the second stage the Hattrick team will pick one or two designers to continue the work with on a professional, paid basis, for as long as is needed.

Please check our Dev Blog for more details about the competition! We will also maintain a design thread in Global if you are curious about the competition, where designers can ask for ongoing feedback as well. The deadline for the first phase will be December 1. }}

It’s an international tournament which is free to join and open for all managers, and where you compete against all other managers that joined Hattrick the same year as yourself. Our most senior users will battle it out in the Trophy of Legends, open for managers that joined in 2004 or before. We then have the Titan Trophies, one for each year between 2005 and 2009. Managers that joined 2010 or later will face each other in one of the Hero Trophies.

Like the Supporter Trophy, the new Generation Trophies are run in the tournament system, which means they don’t affect your team in terms of training or injuries. It is just for fun - and honour! Winners will receive a unique trophy and the honour of being the best of their generation.

Kick off will be on December 4 at 18:00 HT-time. Please remember that to play in your Generation Trophy, you will need to actively accept the invitation! The registration is already open, so there is no reason to delay! Registration closes on December 1, 12:00 HT-time.}}

With this release, we want to give managers a better understanding of the factors that contribute to training in general. We are also adding new tools that makes planning and predicting training easier.

The main focus on the page is a dashboard, which shows your current training settings and what positions will be trained. The page keeps track of where your players played in previous games, and where they will play in future matches, given any line-ups submitted by you. If you make a change here, it will affect the training predictions for the rest of the page, most importantly on the player by player training preview at the bottom.

Another big addition is the training efficiency breakdown, which lists all the factors that affects your Club's training speed, and how your Club relates to others in your division. Are you training slower than your rivals and, if so, why?

For training reports, there are now new filters to check your past progress.

For Supporters, we have also spiced up the Training Estimation feature. This feature lets you predict when certain players will pop, given your current training settings. Stamina has been added as a skill that can be predicted. We have also added a Sandbox mode here, which let’s you test how much faster players would train if you hired a better head coach, added more assistant coaches or reduced your stamina training.

The twist for the top teams is that they will enter an international tournament instead, one where series from all top divisions across the world face off against each other in one huge World Battle.

Yes, we are looking forward to see this play out. Quite a lot. But hey! Don’t forget, this is for everyone, and you must register yourself. Your series needs 3 teams to be able to join, and your team may be the missing link. Check the status on your series page. Division Battles kicks off in Week 4 so you still have time to enter. }}
== 2020 ==

This one centers on talent-spotting, as we are creating one new official role - the [[National_coach#Staff|NT scout]] - and a new public [[National_team#Prospects|prospect list]] for each national team.

The new scout role makes official something that has always existed - users that are devoted to their national teams and help the coaches find, and follow, promising players. Scouts are appointed by the NT coaches and get some limited tools that help them with their tasks.

The prospect list will work as an intermediate step for players, between total obscurity and being part of the NT squad. Once a player is an official prospect, it will show on the player page, the owner will receive automatic updates about the player’s NT status as well as being added to a newsletter list, making it easier for the NT staff to communicate with owners about team news, training suggestions, and so on. Up to 150 players can be named as prospects for each NT and U20 team, and only players that have been on the list for at least one week can enter the main squads. However, after elections coaches get two weeks when they can rearrange lists and squads without any such limits.

The reason for these changes is not only to make life easier for NT coaches, but also to move the national teams closer to the community. The prospects lists create more transparency about how NTs screen and select players. It also moves owners closer to the national teams they are supplying with players. We want more managers to feel that they are, in fact, part of the national teams, even if their players don’t make the final cut to a tournament. }}

{{User:Carlesmu/Template foo|width=|date=09/04/2021|title=U20 becomes U21 as WC begins|news=This evening, the first matches in the U21 World Cup, hosted by Switzerland, kick off. This also marks the first competition where players up to 21 years will be allowed to play. Another new rule is that yellow and red cards will carry through from one round to the next as the World Cup is played - this will be true also for the seniors.

We would also like to celebrate the first winners of the Continental championships, which had their finals this past weekend.

In Europe, Germany (with manager GSB-Jabba) beat Spain 4-3, after extra time.

The African champions are Bénin, led by Videhouenou, with Senegal as runners-up. Bénin showed no mercy in their 4-0 win!

Yemen were named the top team in Asia-Oceania, following their win over Armenia. Brcko-ZG took them there.

And finally, Andresfvl became the hero of his fellow Colombian users as his team beat Honduras 3-1. He can now call himself American champion.
