On 28 January 2009, Lokomotiv Veltem Back-on-Track faced FC Admiraal in a first-round fixture of the Belgian Cup. While the match itself was not competitive at all and FC Admiraal took an easy 0-8 win, including a hattrick by Joakim Tenniglo, it was memorable in that sense that it was the first-ever competitive match for the home team.

Match report
5325 spectators had come to The Railroads this cloudy day. Bèla Steyrer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kazım Atmaca and Jerzy Kałwa. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Back-on-Track. Back-on-Track's starters: Kläy - Gelders, Temmerman, Psiloglou, Aertgeerts - Horak, Kramp, Oğulbay, Lapa - Etienne, Clermont.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Admiraal. The following players took the field for Admiraal: Baeten - Napoli, de Graaff, Hanssens - Van Hove, Rast, Cochin, Roets, Donici - Tenniglo, Vollebrecht.

First half
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 4 minutes into the match, and Jef Roets wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. The home crowd was not impressed when Joakim Tenniglo came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 9 minutes. Admiraal were now up 0 - 2. By now, the players in Admiraal felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Emin Muhammet Oğulbay's lack of experience almost gave Admiraal a goal after 15 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. With 16 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Wladimir Vollebrecht of Admiraal to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3. With 19 minutes played, Admiraal's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to Sammy Hanssens he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 0 - 4. 25 minutes in, Back-on-Track's Matthias Aertgeerts received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Cedric Van Hove's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Admiraal, he bravely continued in the match. Alfonso Napoli of Admiraal took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 27 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 5. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Michael Clermont from Back-on-Track a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 31 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! It was 0 - 5 at the break. Admiraal had most of the ball, with 79 percent of possession.

Second half
After 46 minutes, Admiraal's Christophe Cochin burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 6. With the scoreboard showing that 51 minutes had been played, Admiraal nearly put themselves up another goal after Christophe Cochin came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Some fine movement on the left led to a Admiraal goal after 54 minutes, making it 0 - 7. Joakim Tenniglo was noted down as the scorer. Admiraal's Randy de Graaff was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 72 minutes. A drive down the left side allowed Joakim Tenniglo to get in close and score another goal for Admiraal after 76 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 8. This third goal completed a hattrick for Joakim Tenniglo. Admiraal had most of the ball, with 81 percent of possession.

Post match
Engelbert Horak performed admirably for Back-on-Track. However, Michael Clermont made a disastrous appearance. Admiraal's top performer was clearly Christophe Cochin. On the other hand, Cedric Van Hove's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 8.
