| The rating may not agree exactly with the [[Supporter]] Statistics function "Best Match Ever", due to differences in the way the two are calculated, but both are intended as a quick summary of a team's performance in a match. Due to several factors ([[tactics]], actual distribution of [[scoring opportunities]]), it is not necessarily the most accurate way to determine which team was most likely to win a game, but it's a quick and easy way to get a rough idea of the relative strengths of teams. Other, more complex, rating systems take tactics, scoring chance distribution, and various other factors into account, but this is at the cost of the simplicity and ease of calculation that Hatstats ratings provide.
