The Syracuse Caldera Football Club is an American professional soccer team located in New York that was founded in Season 47. The club currently plays in the sixth division of the United States league system, and is managed by crabGoblin. Caldera's first team plays it's fixtures at J.F. Santos Construction Arena, a venue with seating for about 12,000 spectators. Magma Chambers F.C., Caldera's youth side, plays in the HTNE Junior League and has home matches at the nearby Colby Park. Caldera's head coach is currently Johnny Orr, who has been with the team and its predecessors since he joined the Syracuse Conquerors in Season 32.

History

The club was established as the Syracuse Conquerors when division VI was organized before season 19. Local strikers Duncan Craven and Don Sample led the team in its early years as it established itself in the division, where after struggling for several years towards the bottom of the table, they first won the VI.800 league title in season 25. Unfortunately, the Conquerors were blocked from promotion into the fifth division by persistent financial troubles, which continued until season 38 when the club was taken over by lukib5 and reorganized as the Polonia NY Soccer Club. The new management was unable to turn things around, and the team changed hands again in both season 43 (as IceMan 10 under foxxintheboxx) and season 47 (as Onondaga Hotspur).

Season 47 marked a turning point for the club, and at mid-season new manager AtlantaHotspur was able to secure 7 wins and a draw. However, with illness forcing AtlantaHotspur into early retirement and the abrupt buy-out of the newly-successful team (renamed Syracuse Caldera Football Club), crabGoblin became the third manager in two seasons.

From the manager Thank you Posted 6 January 2012 by crabGoblin To start off here, I want to thank the board for giving me this exceptional opportunity to manage this team, and to assure the fans, players, and everyone else that I am committed to this club. I'm here for the long haul, and I see great potential for growth and, of course, many wins. We are all sorry to see AtlantaHotspur go, since he has done an excellent job with the team so far this season, and left me a team in a very comfortable first-place standing on the table. This does not mean I am going to sit back, though, and I am replacing coach Orr with my good friend Alejandro Doncel. Also with several transfer prospects in mind, I am very optimistic that we will finish the season strong so we can look forward to next season in the fifth division. —crabGoblin
