Overview
Brook Street Athletic is a football club which currently plays in the fourth tier of the Hattrick Scottish League and is based in the Angus town of Monifieth. The club was officially founded on 09 July 2006 in neighbouring Broughty Ferry, but from the outset it was always the intention that Brook Street Athletic would be based in the Angus town.
The club entered the fifth tier of the Hattrick Scottish League towards the end of Season 17, taking the place of the defunct torrance bohys, and played their first competitive game on 15 July 2006 which resulted in a 5-1 defeat at league leaders Sheeps Eleven; defender Aitcheson MacNeish entering the record books becoming the first player to score for the club.
Historically, Brook Street Athletic have tended to float between the third and fourth tier of the Hattrick Scottish League and has gained the reputation of being a "yo-yo club".
Their home since founding has been New Home Park, latterly rebranded as the LJG Stadium and over the years its capacity has been increased as the Club's popularity has grown until now where the ground now holds 59,500 spectators.
