Coomar Rangers is a team based in West Midlands, England. The team is owned by leeon2045 and has been in existance since 27th July 2004. They play their home matches at The Bernard Brow Stadium.

History

Coomar Rangers had existed for a number of years as a minor league team with very little funding until a chance meeting in February 2004 changed their fortunes. On a dark evening with the rain lashing down, the then Coomar manager Stan Hepplethwaite was driving home from a training session when he came across a broken down BMW. Stan stopped to see if he could help and being a bit of an amateur mechanic, soon had the BMW running again. The grateful driver offered to buy Stan dinner, and the two of them went to a nearby pub. The discussion soon got round to football and Stan's passion for the game was obvious. The BMW driver, named Henry Winkleburger, turned out to be a huge football fan as well and offered to fund Stan's team in repayment for Stan's Samaritan act. With funding in place, Coomar applied to join the Hattrick league and were accepted into league VI on 27th July 2004. Henry was installed as Chairman and Stan as Manager. The ground was brought up to Hattrick standards and renamed the Bernard Brow Stadium in honour of the landlord of the pub where that first meeting took place.

Joining the league halfway through Season 23, Coomar did well to finish 4th and promotion beckoned. However, league VI.154 proved to be a difficult league and promotion was to be elusive for several seasons. The next few seasons saw Coomar finding their feet and finishing mid-table. This period also saw the first major disagreement between Stan and Henry when one of the scouts discovered a prodigeous youth talent by the name of Kevin Graham. Stan wanted to keep him and train him up to be a future star for the team, but Henry wanted to put the club on a more secure financial footing by cashing in on the player. Henry prevailed and his decision was soon justified when a bid of £500,000 was received within an hour of Kevin going on the market. He eventually sold for £816,000, money that was used to strengthen the squad for a promotion push. Sadly for Kevin, his career did not progress as the club he went to went out of business and he left the game disillusioned.

Coomar's first league title came in Season 27 and with it great scenes of celebration in the town. The euphoria was short lived however as Coomar were soundly beaten 6-0 in the playoffs. Automatic promotion had to wait until the second league title in Season 29 when the team was promoted to V.109. This, however, proved to be a difficult league and after just one season the club were relegated to VI.851. The experienced Coomar squad were able to steamroller this weak league and won every game, scoring 103 goals and conceding just 2. Automatic promotion to V.28 followed, where Coomar were able to hold their own finally in level V, finishing 2nd in their first season. A fourth league title followed the season after, but again playoff defeat proved a disappointment for the fans. However, season 34 saw a fifth league title and automatic promotion to IV.14. Coomar spent 8 seasons in this league, collecting two more league titles in Season 38 and Season 40. Both were followed with playoff heartache. Season 42 proved to be a difficult one and a run of defeats together with some bizarre team selections saw Stan Hepplethwaite replaced as manager by Danny Dickinson. The appointment was not enough to stave off relegation and the team found themselves in V.20 for Season 43. However, the stay in V was shortlived as Coomar bounced straight back by securing auto promotion in their first season in V.20 by winning 13 straight games before finally losing in the last game of the season after promotion had already been secured. They were promoted to IV.35 for season 44.

During Season 45 the club was sold and new investors took charge. Outgoing Chairman Henry Winkleburger had decided to pursue other business interests and sold his shares to Patrick Winter who took over as Club Chairman. No new funds were injected into the club, but the new board retained the services of Danny Dickinson as first team manager. Club Secretary Jonathan Blenkinsop also left along with Henry Winkleburger and was replaced by Zach Snape. The new board also appointed Darryl Crow as Youth Coach.

Two 4th place finishes in IV.35 were followed in Season 46 by another league title and direct promotion to level III for the first time in the club's history. For Season 47, Coomar were placed in league III.5. Coomar spent 3 seasons in III.5, finishing 2nd in their first 2 seasons at this level, before being relegated back to IV.25 for season 50. During their time in III.5, the Coomar youth academy produced a couple of top class strikers in Kieran Shearwood and John Cockayne.

Hall of Fame

Niklas Robbins

Niklas had a long and distinguished career as both goalscorer and later club coach. He was, at date of induction, the club's record goalscorer with 80 goals in 76 first team matches. He was twice awarded the Golden Boot for being the league top scorer including a club single season record of 27 goals in season 27. Niklas is now pursuing a career as an agent.

Jordan Peart

The first Coomar playmaker. Jordan marshalled the midfield in 41 appearances for the club in the early days and was a firm favourite with the fans.

Mark Mavir

Mark spent his entire career at the club, coming up through the youth system and on to a distinguished first team career. He spent most of his career as an attacking midfielder, but later used his technical ability and pinpoint passing to great effect as a deep lying forward. To date of induction, Mark holds the club records for most appearances (205 competitive matches) and goals scored (93). He was the team's top scorer in a season three times during his carer.
He is now pursuing his ambition to become a Michelin starred chef with his own restaurant.

Ulises Tarki

Ulises joined from FC Michus in Bolivia as a promising 17 year old midfielder. After spending time as an apprentice learning the ropes, he went on to establish himself in the first team and played 176 competitive matches for the club, second on the all time list of appearances. When his playing days were over, he turned his hand to coaching and spent some years as a successful first team coach for the club. He has now retired to pursue a career as a Sports Journalist and we wish him well.

Claudio Paul Lazarte

Claudio was a stalwart of the Coomar defence for 12 seasons, racking up a total of 146 competitive matches and scoring 41 goals for the club. He is now pursuing a career in PR.
