A "clown" is a popular guy that has solid leadership.
There is a general belief that a "clown" will help (more or less) maintaining the team spirit.
Some users feel that searching and aquiring clowns is a waste of time and HT-money. If you are a clown fan or a clown trader you might want to talk to Laurghita also known as The Clown Slayer, manager of the team Mormoetii. He started a real crusade to fire clowns from Hattrick. Who knows? He may convice you too :)
