Few notes

I think that non-notable players under team namespace shouldn't be categorized at all. Notable players should be categorized under their nationality. And player categories should also be categorized under their country's category. --Jhattara 07:41, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

No, there is no such example yet. I had an idea that maybe we could use a template (compare to stub) that would automatically add players that are not having a team to add them to a special category, pending creation of a team-stub page for their team, and susequent move to under there. --EchoMan 11:01, January 29, 2009 (UTC)

Maybe categorizing everyone is ok. Other note is concerning the famous players, like those from NT. I think they shouldn't be categorized under the country's main category, but only under the relevant player categories. --Jhattara 14:41, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Do I understand you correctly that you would like both the non-notable players and the notable ones, to be categorized exactly the same (in regards to the country), the only difference between them is what namespace they reside in? --EchoMan 15:14, January 29, 2009 (UTC)

I was about to write the policy for players, notability, naming and so on... here's a résumé of what I was gonna propose:

• Which player belongs where:
  • Articles in name space only for these players: National team (min. 1 cap, cap = played match), U-20 national team (min. 1 cap), Masters participants (1 cap), Cup final winner, top league winner (min 8 played matches), Players with nicknames or very special achievements (like Luca Omini or even much more Sven Åkerblad or Bob Sunesson), perhaps other special player types I couldn't think of right now.
  • Youth team players: Team name/Player name, perhaps rather Team name/Youth Team name/Youth Player. I think I'd prefer that one since youth academies follow the Team name/Youth team name scheme.
  • Normal players not fitting into the name space: Team name/Player name

• Categories:
  • Players sub 1: categories as we're used to it -> Category:Belgian Players (Category:Demonym Players), but add them to other player categories like Hattrick Masters players / Cup final players / Famous players (for Bobs and others of that kind) / etc.
  • Players sub 2: They should also be categorised with this system: Category:Demonym youth players
  • Players sub 3: just the country category, nothing more.

One thing bugging me is the tendency for capitalising even the second noun on a category (Belgian Players instead of Belgian players). In my opinion we should stop that...
