Tobinov was born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa. He lives with his lovely wife, and two boys, Jacques and Orwell, in Tacoma, Washington.

Tobinov loves good food (especially Indian and Asian) and good beer. Ah, how he loves beer... He also enjoys art, books, bicycles, movies, music, politics, travel, and, naturally, football!
