Coomar Rangers is a team based in West Midlands, England. The team is managed by leeon2045 and has been in existance since 27th July 2004.
History
Coomar Rangers had existed for a number of years as a minor league team with very little funding until a chance meeting in February 2004 changed their fortunes. On a foul evening with the rain lashing down, the then Coomar manager Stan Hepplethwaite was driving home from a training session when he came across a broken down BMW. Stan stopped to see if he could help and being a bit of an amateur mechanic, soon had the BMW running again. The grateful driver offered to buy Stan a drink, and the two of them went to a nearby pub. The discussion soon got round to football and Stan's passion for the game was obvious. The BMW driver, named Henry Winklerburger, turned out to be a huge football fan as well and offered to fund Stan's team in repayment for Stan's Samaritan act. With funding in place, Coomar applied to join the Hattrick league and were accepted into league VI on 27th July 2004. Henry was installed as Chairman and Stan as Manager. The ground was brought up to Hattrick standards and renamed the Bernard Brow Stadium in honour of the landlord of the pub where that first meeting took place. Joining the league halfway through Season 23, Coomar did well to finish 4th and promotion beckoned. However, league VI.154 proved to be a difficult league and promotion was to be elusive for several seasons. The next few seasons saw Coomar finding their feet and finishing mid-table. This period also saw the first major disagreement between Stan and Henry when one of the scouts discovered a prodigeous youth talent by the name of Kevin Graham. Stan wanted to keep him and train him up to be a future star for the team, but Henry wanted to put the club on a more secure financial footing by cashing in on the player. Henry prevailed and his decision was soon justified when a bid of £500,000 was received within an hour of Kevin going on the market. He eventually sold for £816,000, money that was used to strengthen the squad for a promotion push. Coomar's first league title came in Season 27 and with it great scenes of celebration in the town. The euphoria was short lived however as Coomar were soundly beaten 6-0 in the playoffs. automatic promotion had to wait until the second league title in Season 29 when the team was promoted to V.109.
