Tobinov is the owner of Wetherby Park BCFC and Saint Mungo RFC.
Hattrick
Tobinov joined HT in November of 2004 and has been a dedicated player ever since. His original team Birchollow BCFC moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan in July of 2007, re-branding into Wetherby Park located in Tacoma, Washington. He served as Global Editor for the Hattrick Press from 2009-2011 as well as being the regional Editor for the USA, Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago. In May of 2013, tobinov founded Saint Mungo RFC in Glasgow, Scotland.
Life
Tobinov was born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa. He lives with his lovely wife, and cat Orwell, in Tacoma, Washington.
Interests
Tobinov is happiest spending time with friends, eating good food and drinking good beer, making films and riding his bike.
Outside of Hattrick, Tobinov enjoys art, books, bicycles, movies, music, politics, travel, and, naturally, football!
He played goalkeeper for an O30 team in Olympia, WA but an ankle injury suffered in September 2010 effectively ended competitive play. But in 2011, he made a comeback playing in Tacoma for South Puget Sound United with whom he continues to play in the Men's Open Premier League.
Professionally, Tobinov works for a regional non-profit arts organization in Development managing databases and reporting.
Protest
After the November 2013 announcement of an outrageous price increase for Supporter, Tobinov vowed to never spend another dime on Hattrick. His decision was a matter of principle, not because he could not afford the $110 annually but because of the arrogance and contempt HT management showed their customers in their justification for the price increase. Furthermore, the broken promises, the lack of development, and the unwillingness to address the loss of users signaled to tobinov that it was time to end his relationship with the game.
Because he had accumulated Supporter time prior to the announcement, Tobinov then decided to use his remaining time with the site to bring his teams to their natural conclusion and to protest the decisions of HT management. In his view, they priced the soul out of Hattrick - and there is no reason to play the game if they care so little about their most loyal customers.
