Season 82 was the first season of Nashville FC under manager dalepopp. The Nashville FC era officially began on 9 August 2022, after the first two rounds of the VI.18 league schedule had already been played. Taking over for the remaining 12 matches, Nashville recorded eight wins, two draws and two losses, scoring 17 goals while conceding eight. A strong finish carried the club to the VI.18 championship and direct promotion to V.212.
No cup matches were played during the season, making the league campaign the sole focus of Nashville FC's first season.
Season summary
Nashville FC played its first match on 14 August 2022, opening with a 1–1 home draw against Hourmen. The early portion of the season was uneven, with Nashville collecting seven points from its first five matches and suffering away losses to Houston of John and Perry F.C.. Despite those setbacks, the club remained unbeaten at home and entered the second half of the schedule in position to challenge for the league title.
The season turned decisively in Week 9 with a 2–1 away victory over The Miami FC. Nashville did not drop another point, winning each of its final six matches. The defense became particularly dominant during the run, allowing only one goal over those six games and recording clean sheets in each of the final five. The stretch included a 4–0 victory over Gillis FC, the club's largest win of the season, before Nashville closed the campaign with a 2–0 away win at Skittles Chicago.
Nashville finished its 12-match portion of the season with an 8–2–2 record and was unbeaten in six home matches, winning four and drawing two. Those home fixtures drew a combined 74,129 spectators, an average of 12,355 per match.
The first Nashville FC home match was played at Dudley Field. The name was a reference to Vanderbilt University's historic Dudley Field and to the earlier Nashville FC of the NPSL, which played its first home matches on the Vanderbilt campus before later moving into the university's football stadium. The Hattrick ground was renamed Chris Jones Field by Week 6.
Jarred Fruge finished as Nashville FC's leading scorer with three goals despite appearing in only three matches. His contribution came during the club's late-season surge, which ultimately carried Nashville to the VI.18 title and direct promotion.
