FC Tayto Republic (31915) is an Irish club managed by jimmywellins. The team was founded on the 14th of February 2007. The team is currently ranked 7th in Wicklow and 4th in IV.36. The club has been reasonably successful in terms of it's development and is ranked as the best Irish team which started in February 2007, and the club also has the highest LoddarStats and third most HatStats of any club to have started in Ireland in 2007.[3].

The Jersey and Name

The club was originally known as tayto republic but changed to FC Tayto Republic for season 22, this sparked anger with the fans, as the club is a Republic not a FC, and both now sides seem ready to compromise with the proposed taking away of the -FC- so the club will be called simply Tayto Republic. This isn't the only change the club made, originally the team wore bright green and red jerseys, even though the crest was black and red, for season 21 the club swapped the bright green for a dark green and this was changed again for season 22 to black and red which had been demanded by the fans, so the jersey would match the Taytonian crest. The old green and red jersey has been preserved as the away jersey and this tradition will be kept alive. The club crest was also updated for season 22 and it's modern new look will be kept for the coming seasons.

Youth Academy

Tayto Republic Youths was set up on the 29th of March 2007 when Kliment Pospíchal[21] became the coach of the club. Chad Tierney has run the academy with success, the clubs scouting team of Ray Houghton and Vincent Flynn have uncovered many potential stars and the club hopes to reap the rewards in the near future.

Notable Past Players

Martin Mikaelsson[22]: The Swede was an important and versatile midielder/forward during his time at the club, he was signed on 17/2/07 as a 19 year old for €51,000 from hometown club Vagabond BOIS. His best performance undoubtedly came in the Republics game at home against Con City, 12/8/07, where he put in a stunning performance and scored a hattrick, within 16 minutes in a match the team won 5-3 as massive underdogs. He left the team to move the Italian club viola del pensioro much to the upset of the fans on 04/11/2007 for €211,000. Known as the first Taytonian legend. 36 Appearance 18 Goals

Shaun McGennis[23]: Was the best local player to have played for the club, though it took him a while to break into the team. He joined the club from the off as an 18year old ready to be moulded, he showed great potential and [[jimmywellins] guided him to become a very attack minded midfielder. His chances of becoming a core player for the club were limited so he decided to move to Chilean club F.C. Leri on 04/11/07 for a fee of 145,000. 31 Appearances 4 Goals
