Summary

Tabletrick is an excel-addin built by BigBabou, based on an excel implementation by ukelele. The tool was tested in the federation 'Weetjewat' and was built with the help of Weetjewat. Tabletrick converts selected cells in an excel-worksheet to conference-code that can be pasted into your post on the Hattrick conferences. It is used to create nicely aligned tables with every kind of data you like.
It can be found here.
Pictures 1 and 2 show some examples of what Tabletrick can do.

Installation

Follow these steps:

  1. Download the files (the Button Image is optional)
  2. Save the files in the Add-In folder of Excel (see below how to locate it)
  3. Start Excel
  4. Choose Add-Ins... in the Tools menu
  5. Check the box next to TableTrick v1.x (see Picture 3)
    Picture 3: Add-in menu
  6. Press OK

The add-in is now installed and a new button is placed in the standard toolbar, near the cut/paste group. Also, an About TableTrick... item is placed in the Tools menu.

Locating the Excel Add-In folder

Unfortunately, the location of the Add-In folder is different for each Windows or Excel version. Some of the possible locations are:

  • Excel XP(2002) on Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns
  • Excel 2000 on Windows 98:
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns
  • Excel 97 on Windows 98:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Library

If this does not work for you, then there is a little trick to determine the folder location:

  1. Open a new workbook in Excel.
  2. Choose Save As... in the File menu
  3. At Save as type: select Microsoft Excel Add-In (*.xla)
  4. The Save in: folder is now automatically changed to the Add-In folder
  5. Note the location (see Picture 4)
    Picture 4: Add-in folder

Note: Apparently the Application Data folder is hidden on most systems. In that case, turn on Show hidden folders under Folder Options... in the Tools menu of Windows Explorer to find the (hidden) Add-Ins folder.

Uninstallation

  1. Choose Add-Ins... in the Tools menu
  2. Uncheck the box next to TableTrick v1.x
  3. Press OK
