Bobby Meuleman is a former player of S.K Oostnieuwkerke.
The arrival of the manager
When the new manager took over the team on 24-04-2007, Bobby was already thinking about retirement because 30 years was a nice age to stop playing football he thought. However, the new manager convinced him to add some more years.
A new beginning
Because Oostnieuwkerke only just started growing, Bobby was one of the best and most important players on the field, even though his best stat was passable scoring. Already in the first weeks under the new management he proved his importance by scoring an important goal pretty often. In August 2007 he even managed to score a hat-trick in the last three minutes of the game. Two more hat-tricks would follow the next two months. During his career he played 70 official games, scored 25 official goals and won the golden boot once.
The end of a legend
On the 8th August 2008 (08-08-08) S.K Oostnieuwkerke and Bobby came to an agreement and decided to end Bobby's contract. This was a very emotional day for everyone with S.K Oostnieuwkerke in his heart. That day, Bobby was also added to the S.K Oostnieuwkerke Hall Of Fame. Bobby's farewell was announced in the following press announcement: (Translated from Dutch)
Farewell to a legend |

It were just speculations until now, but now it is official: 'den Bob' leaves us. Bobby Meuleman has said goodbye to football on a very attended press conference. "When I started here I felt very well and was full off energy, now I feel that my old bones are getting tired when I run behind the ball. That's why I decided it is time for a step aside." thus the ex-golden boot.
Bobby was one of people who helped starting up this team. Because of a lack of players, he decided to play as an attacker and surprisingly enough he did very well! In his 70 official games, he scored 25 goals and he became top scorer once. Because of the future plans of the team Bob decided to stop. |
The return of 'den Bob'
A few days later the board announced that 'den Bob' (as he was named by fans) was coming back to Belgium. Not as a player but as a youth coach. Bobby took this decision as he thought the youth-players would be more motivated when they received training from their idol.
