Anonymity

As much as I respect the work you've done on this page, IndianaRed, the acknowledgements section simply doesn't belong on the main page. It's fine for it to be in the talk page, but there's no reason for it to be on the main page... Please take a look at this Wiki Policy and you'll see what I mean. Sorry for my wiki-n00bness, but josh_sec33 asked for the acknowledgement and I agreed. How many people actually look at the talk page? This is perhaps the first time I ever have.

Wiki also suggests adding as many links as possible even ones that have not been created yet, so that they can easily be created in the future. --IndianaRed 19:48, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

• Though that may be true, the Hattrick Wiki has a policy on which teams deserve a page and which do not. Basically in short (since it hasn't yet been written down in one single place), any team that (a) won the National Cup, (b) won the I.1 in that country, or (c) is very well known in that country for another unforseen reason (kind of like how Dynamo Moscow and FOD are famous for their team types right now, or how Shaolin has a cult following), then that team deserves to have a club page. I'm all for creating more club pages, but I also know that if we created a page for every team ever mentioned on a wiki page (or even for just half of them), then we'd either have a hell of a lot of blank pages or we'd need about 10 people with no lives to write for 10 hours a day.

That's not to say that we don't encourage people to write pages about their own teams (though we did do that initially, but have since loosened the requirements), just that there's no reason to link to any page that doesn't exist yet and doesn't need to exist as per the policy listed above.

And I think a lot of people look at the talk page if they're interested in the article... at any rate, it's a policy and it exists so that we don't have articles clogged with signatures. I can relate to the amount of work you put into the article (hell, I archived the whole damn World Cup V), but you have to understand that the basis for wiki is the idea of this being an encyclopedia, not a collection of works. -Catalyst 20:02:22, 2006-01-21 (UTC)
