After being involved with the Syrian U20 team for a season or so, the then coach went inactive around the time of the NT team elections. Broughy took this opportunity to get on the NT ladder by running for U20 coach of Syria. After a hard fought election he eventually won and was in charge for the whole of season 40. Unfortunately he didn't get to play any competitive games but he did work hard to house future prospects and prepare the team for the up coming world cup. He ran again in season 41 to continue his work but was beaten by a local user, who ended up being inactive and guided the team to bottom of their qualification group. | |||

After an almost traumatising election campaign he won by 45 votes and is one of his most proud moments.
