Stockwood Wanders is an English football club from the South West of England.

Since the club changed ownership the club has spent its entire life in the bottom 2 tiers of the English football league system.

History

Formation

Found in 2005 as Essex City, the club we know today as Stockwood Wanders has went through 4 different eras under different ownerships before coming under ownership of baziltripp who originally opened up the club as The Zulu Warriors towards the end of season 33. Yet with very few games to go the club could not do anything about being relegated from VI.716.

Before season 34 the club was renamed to Bristol Rovers BAZ as the club thought the original name was not very professional. With spending 1 season in VII.158 the club were promoted as champions of the series. Ever since the promotion the club has spent the rest of its history in series VI.765.

After season 37 the club was renamed for a second time as Stockwood Wanders. This was mainly to the fact that the club felt that Stockwood is a area in Bristol without a football club and many people are using Bristol Rovers as a club name so the club wanted some uniqueness. Despite the name change to Stockwood Wanders the club was playing in the City of Bristol Stadium which was not located in Stockwood but the club announced a 2 year relocation programme is being prepared.

After season 39 the club moved into their new stadium Scotland Lane as their previous stadium was not located in Stockwood but in another area of Bristol.

Kit

Until the end of season 39 Stockwood Wanders played in the common green Hattrick stock kit. However the club decided that change was needed so ready for season 40 the club will be playing in a sky blue and white kit. These colours are ideally going to be the clubs primary colours.

Since Season 45 the club have changed their home kit colours to Blue, White and Red and have made their old colours their away kit. Their was no major reason for this other than the preference of the looks on the kit.

Youth Acadamy

Stockwood Wanders Youth Acadamy is represented by the Gas Youth Squad (due to former name of Bristol Rovers BAZ). The Gas Youth Squad have been playing in the League of Gentleboys which the league is currently in its 9th season. However due to cost cutting within the club the Gas Youth Squad will no longer be part of Stockwood Wanders. No players from the youth acadamy have made a major impact when being promoted into the first team setup leaving them either to be sold or fired.

At the end of season 40 the club decided to depart with the Gas Youth Squad due to financial issues.

During season 47 Stockwood Wanders decided to invest in youth development again and decided to pair up with local club Club Atlético Stockwood Juniors who play at Bifield Gardens in Stockwood. The team plays its league matches in the Aryana League.

Until recently Stockwood Wanders were playing at the City of Bristol stadium which was a council owned stadium located in Brislington, Bristol aprox 2 miles away from Stockwood. This was because there wasn't any league standard stadiums in the suburban area of Stockwood. The plans to build a all seater stadium in Stockwood were submitted to the council in 2007 which were accepted. Construction work was finished in 2009 and was announced that the stadium will be ready to be used for season 40. The stadium was named Scotland Lane as this is the road that runs beside the stadium. The stadium holds 16,400 which can be expanded if nessesary. When the season 40 campaign kicks of it will be the first time that Stockwood Wanders will play in Stockwood since formation.

During Season 41 Scotland Lane was allowed to add a terrace that was allowed to stand 5000. This was to boost support and allow the people who can't afford to use the seating area a oppertunity to watch some local football.

Since then an expansion has been implemented allowing an extra 6,600 spectators making the capacity 28,000

Rivalries

Due to geographical reasons Stockwood Wanders has one rival

The first club is Whitchurch United. The club is based 1 mile down the road from Stockwood. The clubs have met 2 times since existance in which there has been a total of 4 injuries and 6 yellow cards. The matches are well known to be very physical. Both of these matches were played at Yeoman Cottage, Whitchurch where each team have won. There has been a total of 9 goals within these 2 matches. Despite not being in the same league the match is well known for trouble despite the small crowd numbers.
