A season corresponds to a hattrick year. The oldest league, Sverige, is currently midway through it's 27th season. The 28th season will begin January 1st, 2006 (by coincidence), the first league match is either on January 7th (e.g. in Spain, Germany) or January 8th (e.g. in Sweden) 2006.

Program of the Season

There are 16 weeks in a season. 14 weeks for league matches, then 1 week for promotion-demotion matches and the last week is a free week, a week without a match in the weekend. In the week before the first competition match, the first cup match is held, and these cup matches continue untill one team has won the cup. In big leagues the last cup match is after the last league match.

End of the Season

At the end of the season, and the beginning of the season some yearly rituals are done:

The league plan is

Round Match 1 Match 2 Match 3 Match 4
1st 1-2 3-4 5-6 7-8
2nd 6-1 8-3 2-7 4-5
3rd 3-2 5-8 6-4 7-1
4th 1-4 8-6 2-5 7-3
5th 3-1 5-7 6-2 4-8
6th 1-8 3-5 2-4 7-6
7th 5-1 6-3 8-2 4-7

round 8 = round 7 till round 14 = round 1 with home and away reverted.
