Normal wingers use a combination of wing and passing to attack, playmaking to create chances and prevent opponent chances, and defence to stop an opponent's chances on that wing side. They are truly a multi-skilled player.
Many teams disdain the contributions the winger makes to defence, preferring to play their wingers either offensive to enhance wing attack ratings or toward the middle to improve possession.
