Some players in Hattrick are born with a nickname, and some may be awarded a nickname by the HTs, after some special performance. Also GMs might give a player an initial if a manager has two players with the same name.
With the release of Hattrick Gears on November 1, 2011, it became possible to select nicknames for your players on a pay-for-perks basis.
Players Awarded Nicknames
This is a few examples of players awarded a nickname:
- Karsten 'Mjølnir' Hammer (2777922) - Was awarded his name after Norway (his team) beat Sweden in a WC final.
- George 'Archbishop' Carey (2470166) - The greatest goalkeeper in HT History, nickamed Archibishop because he has the same name of the former archibishop of Canterbury.
- Markus 'Der Bomber' Saraba (14860874) - Scored a hattrick in a WC-Final. The real life German striker Gerd Müller has the same nickname.
- Matej "Božský" Mertl (23451819) - Božský means divine. He had three divine skills (wing, set-pieces and experience) and become the best slovak player.
- Predrag "Master" Andjelic (7296649) - The first player in history to win the Hattrick Masters twice.
- Swen "Fumpe" Ewers (112650522) - Fumpe means a bad player in German. He was in the German U20-Team that won the WC. He was trained in set pieces, so he didnt make many stars. Everyone questioned his appointment to the national team, but he silenced them effectively when he scored two goals in the U20-WC-Final.
- Paul 'Pantera' Bedie (337297331) - Because of a radio joke.
- Paolo 'Irpino' Badalucco (112650522) - Because of his origins.
- Christian 'Acero' Lumley (248757152) - Because of his country flag.
- Gilberto 'Fantasma' Campos (291130464) - Because of his face.
- Anton 'Tonno' Kaufmann (379108926) - Joking whit his name.
- Pau 'La Rompe' Gerpe (10634837) - Reason unknown
- Marc 'de la gente' O'Farrell (4178968) - Reason unknown
- Brian "75D" Madsen (1530718) - Reason unknown
- Attila "99" Voczelka (69143005) - Reason unknown
- Denis "Postrach" Backa (56562694) - Postrach means menace, from classic movie "Denis the Menace", as a best Slovak forward. In season 40, in his 33 years, he has helped Slovakia a lot to reach 2nd stage of WC for only the 2nd time in history - with scoring 8 qualification goals (thus becoming the best scorer with huge edge over other scorers).
