Overview

IFK Sälhyltan was founded in season 48 and began its journey in Division VI. The club quickly showed potential, finishing third in its first season and winning the division in season 49 to earn promotion to Division V. However, the team struggled at the higher level and was relegated again in season 50. They immediately bounced back by winning Division VI in season 51 and returning to Division V.

During the following seasons, IFK Sälhyltan gradually improved. After several strong finishes in Division V, the club finally achieved promotion to Division IV in season 61. Their progress continued as they won Division IV in season 62 and moved up to Division III. Competing at this level proved challenging, and the team was eventually relegated back to Division IV in season 63.

The club soon rebuilt and enjoyed one of its strongest periods in the early 70s. After winning Division IV in season 70, IFK Sälhyltan returned to Division III and became a competitive side, finishing near the top several times. The highlight came in season 74 when they won Division III, although they lost the qualifying match for promotion to Division II. The team remained competitive in Division III for several seasons before being relegated in season 76.

In the late 70s the club experienced further ups and downs, eventually dropping back to Division V after relegation in season 78. For many seasons IFK Sälhyltan remained in Division V, often finishing in mid-table positions. The team finally won the division again in season 88 but lost the promotion qualifier. Two seasons later, in season 90, they secured promotion to Division IV after another league title.

In recent seasons the club has stabilized in Division IV, finishing fourth in season 91 and improving to third place in season 92. The club also achieved its best recent cup run that season, reaching round five.

Overall, IFK Sälhyltan’s history has been characterized by persistence, several promotions, and periods of strong competition in Division III, with the club continuing to build on its long tradition.
