Use English words

I will change: Exceptions for countries and regions with: Countries and region must be named with his hattrick name and which english name, if it is not the same, should redirect to his hattrick name.

If nobody dissagry I will change it tomorrow.

Yes, better now. It's for let people be more involved with the changes. May be some other names should be in other language, but I cannot think in any other; may be somebody dissagree, or prefer another wording. --carlesmu 18:30, 29 November 2005 (UTC) :-P

the only exception should be the country and region pages. all other pages/categories should use the proper english name. for example "German users" instead of "Deutsche user" or "category:Germany" instead of "category:Deutschland". --Shyrlden 19:31, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

Lowercase second and subsequent words

Convention: Do not capitalize second and subsequent words unless the title is a proper noun (such as a name) or is otherwise almost always capitalized (for example: "John Wayne", but not "Computer game").

In the rationale links there are more examples, it shoud be usefull but I thinks it should be better to write them in another page (may be 'Hattrick:Naming conventions (foo)), I think it's better short sections with references to examples and rationales. --carlesmu 22:16, 29 November 2005 (UTC)


Player pages, series pages, territorial categories

i think we need standards for the names above.

  • For players i include the ID in the name. Then it's a unique page name.
  • I have seen different ways for Series names: e.g. III.3 (USA) or Latvia II 2 (i prefer the first variant)
  • same for subcategories. See Category:Latvia for an example. 3 cat.s are name Latvian xyz and 1 is called Regions Latvija. (this should be Latvian Regions in my opinion)

I would not use the id in the player's name. Create them under your user namespace, and the problem is solved - besides, when having to access that page you need to type the id too, if i understood the idea right :) as for series, haven't checked the pages myself, but yours look like a good idea. finally, regarding subcategories, i also think some standardization is needed there, not sure which one is the best way though. --duno7 21:35, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

Dissambiguation team

I'm not sure if this discussion is taking place at some other article, but i guess this is also the right place. I have come accross certain words where some consensus is needed about them. We need to sort it out somehow, renaming the proper articles, making sure this is consistent with the rest of the wiki, and so on. For example, what about Tactics? It can be used for the special tactics (CA, AIM, ...), for the total set of orders you give to your team (ie man, thats a cool tactic you used to defeat that guy), and some users might also use that word for the formation. This is used in a number of pages, and it is quite inconsistent now. We should set a standard word for each meaning, and make that list accessible to every writer. Another words are Team, Supporter, things like that. I would suggest adding that list on the guidelines article, after discussing the stuff here. --duno7 21:42, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

Line-up (redirects to Formations), Formations and Formation also are problematics, User:ukelele started a thread in Talk:Formation but it is unanswered. The content of Formation it's about 3-5-2, 4-4-2... and Formations it's a mix up of informarion (more or less related to the team formation). I'm not native english and I'm not sure if line-up and formation are exatly the same, if not I think it would be a good idea to split the information between Line-up and Formation (and redirect Formations to Formation).--carlesmu 22:15, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
