Florin Bernea, known as 'Starboy', was a Romanian inner midfielder during Seasons 82, 83 and 86 for East Meekly. Bernea was involved in a lot of goal contributions during Meekly's undefeated Season 82 and appeared to be a promising senior player at the club. Following an injury in Season 83, Bernea sadly never restored to full fitness and was sold for a fee of £14,000 on 14-01-2023.
Bernea rejoined East Meekly in Season 85 at the age of 34, for a fee of £40,000. He was signed following the sale of record signing Colin Woudenberg, who was sold for a then record fee of £1,200,000. Das Kleeblatt were exstatic about the legend rejoining the club, with many understanding the signing from a dressing room perspective. It was later revealed that Bernea had requested the transfer so that he may retire at Meekly.
Bernea was nominated for the East Meekly Hall of Fame in Season 84, following his contribution to the club - winning the sixth division title twice. He was inducted into the hall of fame in Season 86, where he joined Yuriy Kolupaev's team as an assistant coach at East Meekly after retiring from football.
