Season Summary

Season 63 was the first one that the Grizzlies played from start to finish. After the second place last season, everybody expected a lot, but certainly not a championship, but that is exactly what did happend. With new player Dainis Brenards from Latvia and the departion of Bunea and Kajla we're ready for the first games. Our season started in the first round of the Íslandsbikarinn and that was a tough one. With 5 goals conceded against the Reggae Lions we were eliminated from the Icelandic national cup. With low morale we played our first league match and won surprisingly with 1-3 and that was the first 3 points of the total of 42 we collected that season. With great wins against Coca Cola Romanian Team (6-1) KF Ísafjörthur (5-1) and KF Hagskinna (7-0) we also had a couple of close calls against Weed Raiders (3-2) and War Vikings (3-2) After the elimination in the main cup we had a chance in the Smaragðsbikar Íslands. We survived the first three rounds but got eliminated in the fourth round by Yount FC Selfoss. During the 63th season, our youth Academy showed their worth with the promotion to the first squad for Kolsson, Gylfason, Sigurvinsson and Hallmarsson. We invest a lot of our time and money in our youth academy and that pays off said coach Valerio Scorza. At the end of the season the Grindavík Grizzlies bought winger Klemens Guthnason and sold Néméth, Raun and Brenards for a total of 3,4 million euro's. With the championship and the automatic promotion to division III we send a message to the rest of Iceland that we're coming.
