There is problem with "osmosium" training in the rules.
If he didn't play in either match, he won't be affected by the week's training activities very much at all.
And on the other hand in same page:
Gus O'Gumby didn't play on either Sunday or Wednesday. He doesn't improve his skill.
So which one is correct information? If my player just stay in my team, like my clown get he no training at all or a little training?
All players get 'osmosis' training.
After all, the effect of the osmosis training is very osmotic, hence the wording in the rules (your first quote). The other quote is really an example with the idea of keep it simple for new players. But I guess one can add the word "much" to make it more consistent.
