19-01-2009 New payment options in the shop
We have added two new payment options to our shop. You can now choose to pay using a Walliecard (a cash card which you can buy in stores in many countries), and our German customers can use Sofortüberweisung (a German direct bank transfer). Happy shopping!

I tried to pay with PayPal the other day but it did not work, does anyone know if that was just me being unlucky or if there is an issue with PayPal and should that be the case what are then the chances it will be fixed?

We had an issue with PayPal before the holidays (so, almost a month ago), but it's been sorted out for long now. So I guess (and hope) you were just unlucky, otherwise - please file a report about it.

Do you have any plans to add Moneybookers as payment option?

Actually, Moneybookers will most likely be added during the first half of 2009. I can't guarantee it to 100% though, but it's very likely.

Why is 'Solo' not working? I haven't seen anywhere an option to pay with Solo. I'm client of polish Nordea, and it would be really great if I could pay with Nordea's Solo system.

Solo is a British card, so it's not related to the Nordea at all.

BTW - You are swedish. Nordea is swedish also :) Is it whenever possible to see Nordea's system to use? It's very simple and user-friendly.

I don't know, but my guess is "not that likely".

Hi Johan,

At the 22th December you wrote the following:

"HT-Johan wrote:We have ordered more shirts, they should be available again in January."

Well it is now March and still no new shirts..... or what?

I understand the frustration with this. The fact is that we are still not sure our deliveris are reliable or not.- We have had problems all autumn with this, for a veriety of reasons, and while we still deal with some of the annoyed customers that are still out there, we prefer not to add any new products for sale. So the shirts are there, but it would not seem right to sell any right now.

Sad, but true. I am really keen to solve these problems so we can get on and sell new stuff, there are loads of good ideas out there and I agre, it shouldn't be that hard to do.

Secondly, you write in MyHT about staff that there is no financial crisis, but now you need more money – but it´s obvious that this everything is influenced by financial crisis, so it´s very unfair from you to lie to us. You want to spread the HT team, too, but you don´t have enough money to keep Hattrick..

There is definitely a financial crisis in the world, but we (as a company) haven't yet seen any affects of it. And if we were affected, we would definitely not try to increase our costs by searching for more personel to develop the game further. If so, we would pull the brake - but that's something we don't want to do. We rather want to hit the gas.

It's not that strange that we adjust our prices now, our costs have increased a lot during these three years as mentioned in the MyHT. It's simply invetible for a company not to adjust the prices over time, at least if you want to survive. I most definitely agree that it's not the funniest thing to do (and certainly not a popular thing), but still necessary.

And finally – I am very angry about why you did this so fast, that you only allowed 14 days for purchasing supporter in advance, especially, when the bank transfer takes 4-5 days.

It's the order date that matters, not when the bank transfer money reach us. So one can say you actually got more time than these 14 days, but that's semantics really. I can understand that you would prefer a longer time.

Do you realize that in Poland price of supporter will be almost 2 times higher that it was few months ago?

Many currencies are not worth as much today (compared to €) compared to last autumn. It's beyond our control really, but of course we understand that some currencies will get a harder hit than others. :(

But I am really disappointed about the credits. 100 Credits for 27,90 EUR is about 50 % more than before.

I understand your reaction. It's quite a step, but this is also the first time we adjust that price.

And why was the increase of 20%? That is an huge increase of price. I don't have problems to pay more 5€/y but I'm revolted to see an increase of 20%!!!

The size of the increase is a combination of many things, one naturally being that we don't adjust our prices that often. The rest is more or less covered in the MyHT announcement. And sure, I don't deny that the increase is significant, but Hattrick is also so much better today than three years ago. The site is actually fast and working good. We don't have downtime every now and then, and there is much less bugs now (even if we still got bugs left to fix). It's actually a whole different level.

But giving at least ONE extra slot for each YEAR person have a supporter looks logical – as I play longer i see more interesting federations i would like to participate and 5 slots is surely too low number. You do similar with other-team-support slots why not with Feds?

We know having more federations is on the wish-list. I hope it will be included...

Lots of people are very angry about this. First you tell us we get all sorts of presants , and now we have to pay for them ! It feels like hattrick cheated on uss. Many people think like this.

This price increase doesn't affect your current Supporter subscription, actually all Supporters got a lot more for the money they spent some time ago. We naturally could have done it the other way round, increase the price first and then update the package. But we felt it was more fair this way.

and what about 35 Credits and 200 credits? Or is 100 Credits the only package you can buy in future?

The prices mentioned are examples. All credits packages will be able for purchase, and all of them will be increased (with about the same percentage levels, don't just have the price for the rest at my desk). Prices for T-shirts, clothes etc will not be adjusted at all though.

Inflation was one of the reasons mentioned by Tjecken ^^

Inflation the last three years is around 8% (today's regression included). So inflation is part one of the reasons for the increase, but not the only one and not the most important one.

I'd like to suggest again something I already suggested some time ago but nobody reacted:
If you're talking about a more expensive supporter package - what would you say if we could buy certain supporter 'sets'? Like for example buying federations, details for the team (dress, logo, ...), shortcuts or somehow like that. This sets would proportionally be more expensive than the entire package.

We did investigate the whole packaging (if we were to have different sizes of the Supporter package) two years back. The conclusion was that we would lose money, while not to mention the difficulty to find packages which suits all of our customers. Perhaps the time will come some day when such a package will actually makes sense, but I hardly think that time is now. Supporter is still, even after the price increase, relatively cheap (around 0.08 € a day), even though we naturally understand that it's cheaper for some ppl than for others (depending on where you live etc).

It's impossible to make an educative guess really (and I don't have all the figures), sorry. But truth is that our income hasn't changed that much the last couple of years (number of Supporters have been rather constant and the price has been the same). The costs, however, have increased a lot during this time (much more personel, more hardware etc). Naturally, this increase will mean our income will increase - but we already have (and have had for quite some time now) costs which we need to cover, and as mentioned we're aiming to expand our crew which further will increase our costs.

Naturally, as we expand etc it also comes with an obligation to improve the game further. Otherwise people will naturally not accept the situation and we're out of business. Last time we increased the price we promised to improve the site in order to make it stable and reliable, something we did fulfill. As we now want to grow bigger, it naturally also comes with an obligation with better quality of service (but this time perhaps not the uptime and reliability, but on other areas - and why not the match engine?).
