5-22-2012...Final match will decide series’ top scorer
Marzio La Delfa’s two goals last night in the 39th and 75th minutes bring his goal scoring total this season to 16, edging him ever closer to his series leading teammates, 章雄 (Akio) 遠藤 (Endo) with 17 and Aukusti Sanaslahti at 18.
While interviewing each of the three players earlier today, they stated that being top scorer was a dream come true. However, all three players also reassured me that they would be more than happy to see the honor go to the other.
Next weeks away match at Shirts Arena against the second place Underrated Shirts is in no-doubt a true fans ultimate, dream inspired final match. With the series championship already in the bag, fans will get a rare treat, as their clubs three leading scorers vie for series goal supremacy.

4-28-2012...The Canadian top bottomer Round Robin
A well played tournament for the HC Old Boys. The Canadian top bottomer, a round robin tournament showcasing Canada’s lower to lowest level division talent. Though, this is Theos_of_the_beast inaugural tournament, it in no doubt has the potential to become a prestigious event.
The Old Boys were impressive, winning all their matches, except for a toughly contested 3-2 final loss to the Montreal Hornets. The Old Boys manager Travis Buck did say that he was less than impressed with the officiating for the final. Stating that “The officials were somewhat biased, letting a good many of the calls go the Hornets way”.
If there’s any constellation its Akio Endo, the Old Boys center forward who by netting six goals was the tournaments top scorer.
02-25-2012...Anyone up for division V football?
After two dismal and humbling seasons in division IV that saw the OldBoys finish their series’ in sixth and seventh place respectively, have returned to the division V football. Their last stint in division V lasted for five seasons, placing second for all except their series-winning season. The OldBoys were asked if they had set their agenda for a division IV return? “Yes” said manager Buck, “But not without a more disciplined and competitive club”. The question now on everyone’s mind is, how long? This weekends match will give us all a good idea.
10-16-2011...The headache is hopefully over
Celebrations begin at Blushing Meadows as a very bitter and painful season comes to an end. By far the worst performance in the clubs short history, a bleak season that only saw a handful of wins. A trend that the Blushing Bride Faction hopes will end with the passing of this season.
With certain relegation in the horizon many critics have already begun to speculate on the decision taken by the board earlier this week to increase seating at Meadows Park. One pundit was quoted as saying "with an average of 35000 per match this season, augmenting from forty to fifty thousand is just a bad financial decision". Travis Buck, returning from his media hiatus earlier today responded with "after such dismal attendance for home matches this season, I foresee record breaking crowds at the gates next season." Adding, "(if we add to it, they will come) ". In my opinion Bucks optimism after such a horrid season is somewhat questionable. Nonetheless, fans should get a glimpse of the newly upgraded 50,000 seat Blushing Meadows Park, prior to the start of next season.
6-26-2011...A miracle on grass
The Old Boys make the grade in front of a sold out Blushing Meadow’s Park by winning their first series championship. After four seasons of being the series V.223 “Bridesmaids” the Old Boys have finally relinquished that honour; and, may I add in fine fashion – undefeated throughout the regular season. Manager Travis Buck was unavailable for comment; though I’m sure he’ll cherish this series win for a long time to come.
Coach Afreldo Cotegipe who had nothing but praise for his players in the way they handled themselves on the field earlier today, was quoted as saying that “they did not disappoint in what probably will be the match of a life-time for a good many of the players.” Coach Cotegipe was also very impressed in the way his players did not show signs of nervousness against a club that has dominated the series for the past six seasons.
6-12-2011...Youth team on the verge of imploding
The once promising Little-Monsters have taken a turn for the worse, with three consecutive loses and no light in sight, an impending doom mentality has set in at Cooke Street. Scouts are nodding their heads in disbelief, as viable replacements for the maturing youth players are nowhere to be found. With players on the injury list and no prospects entering the academy, its fair to say that the club form is suffering greatly. Club officials are said to be working around the clock, trying to assess the situation. Hopefully a solution can be found before it’s too late.
6-5-2011...Old Boys 'till the end
HC Old Boys bid farewell to Dud Bauman and 尤 (You) 羽锋 (Yufeng), two players that have bled black, red and orange since the start. Fans along with fellow players are saddened by the star duo’s departure. During a post match interview senior team captain Lebeau said “So many great memories, they’ll be missed”. “It’s the sad part of being a pro footballer, their a tight-knit group almost like a family” Manager Buck was quoted as saying earlier this week.
Dud Bauman will make his debut with Polish Club A&M Lublin this coming Sunday, as for 尤 (You) 羽锋 (Yufeng) he should be putting on the cleats the following day for the Peruvian Club Pasteles Verdes FK.

4-17-2011...Break Open The Champagne
An impressive season for the Little-Monsters, one that started with a loss, and ended with a loss to John boy of Trinidad and Tobago. An impressive squad, that much to everyone’s surprise did not win the series. However, in between the first and last match it was as sweet as candy. Protathlites, looks like we will see more of each other next season, so I won’t say much, except congrats. NS89, Steppers Pfüpfers and Järva JK Päike (thanks for keeping track of the scoring leaders) you guy’s have awesome squads, with a great deal of potential... All the best for next season. As for the Olisipo Juniors, a club I proudly support and who is moving up in the standings rather fast, keep it up I’m sure the series championship isn’t too far. Finally the Pittem Junior Pirates, what can I say…great job running the HFU youth league one, it’s been a blast.
3-7-2011...(12:30) Title hopes
Old Boys played well this season, finishing second, three points behind GD Ribas. But, the question is, will they ever be good enough to win a title? Up till now there have been excuses, the club is too young, not enough experience, etc. Four seasons have past and excuses are running thin, no longer can age or experience be the reason. Next season in my opinion should be the one, all is set in place; the club is ready. As the old cliché saying goes “destiny is in our hands”.
2-6-2011...(15:04) Pears ends amateur career on a high note
With a lacklustre performance and down by one at the half, it seemed like the Little-Monster’s were on their way to a second consecutive home defeat. The home side’s shabby play continued in the second half. NS89’s lone goal by Elias van Ede in the 14th minute could spell the difference in today’s encounter. As frustrated parents on both sides of the pitch began to shout obscenities at one another, star defender Ian Pears in a cloud of confusion found himself alone in front of the opposing clubs net minder and did not disappoint. The tying goal in the 63rd minute appeared to give the home side the boost of confidence they needed as forward Ken Hollinshead added to the lead in the 66th minute.
With today’s win the Little-Monsters are in sole possession of third place in the HfU Youth League One series play.
12-26-2010...(04:12) As expected, new coach at Blushing Meadows
Old Boys management opt for a new coach, as club looks to improve. In Jan Willem Nijhuis' defence, he did an admirable job; a well liked trainer who did a great deal of work in improving the clubs skill level. However, a distant second place, an early exit in the national cup and a steep decline in player form, did all but seal his fate. Loïc Nijveen, the 37 year old Belgian will be Jan’s replacement. A solid trainer with excellent experience and decent leadership abilities, known as a midfielders midfielder in style. Club officials, who were wooed by Loïc’s credentials and background, believe he will propel the Old Boys to new heights.
12-5-2010...(21:35) New season awaits
The HC Old-Boys start season play later this evening against the newly arrived Monkey Island Maniacs at Big Whoop Field. It will mark the clubs fourth year in series: V.223. In addition, there seems to be a buzz around town regarding the recently upgraded Blushing Meadows Park, the fan census is that they are edging closer to the big leagues. “The upgrade from 26000 to 32000 is a real boost in morale for all. The only thing missing is a series championship,” says club president Travis Buck.
11-14-2010...(18:31) A star in the making
“I think I’ve spotted a future star here, to be honest.” Scout Al Trudgian was quoted as saying to Travis Buck. Paul-Émile Camirand the 17-year-old midfielder from Montreal, Canada will be able to prove his worth when he laces up for Monday’s game against evertonpetit. Travis Buck mentioned earlier today “A great deal has been said up till now about the wonderkid. His first match as a Little-Monster will be a true litmus test for us” Paul Émile was ecstatic at being selected and dreams of one day suiting up for the HC Old-Boys.
10-14-2010...(01:38) The CONCACAF Hattrick League Cup
The CONCACAF Hattrick League cup is quickly becoming the topic of conversation as the Old-Boys complete a tough first round of play. The first match took place at the Grand Line Stadium, in Costa Rica against Mugiwara12 where the Old-Boys came out on top by a score of 2-0; Yufeng and Tingas were the scorers. The next two matches were home affairs as the Old-Boys played host to the Pop-Stars of Guatemala and Hermosillo FC of Mexico. The Old-Boys were able to add 4 points to their already 3, by defeating the Pop-Stars 2-1 and drawing with Hermosillo FC 1-1. The combined goal scorers for both matches were Tingas and Winslow. The Old-Boys anxiously await their next opponent(s) in the upcoming round.
9-26-2010...(14:19) A change...
Shortly after applying, the Cooke Little-Monsters were given a spot in the eight squad Canadian youth league “Champion 2007”. The CSLM who just recently finished their inaugural season in the “12th Player” International youth league with optimism, are very excited to be a part of something homegrown. CSLM trainer Darrell Sutherland mentioned to the media late yesterday that “it’s a nice way to get a birds eye view of what the talent pool is like for youth football in this country, and try to grow from that”. The CSLM who performed admirably last week in their first match of the season, are at home this week for their match versus the first place solofra. The match is scheduled for a 14:10 start tomorrow at Cookes Alley.
9-6-2010...(21:37) New faces at Blushing Meadows
Changes have already commenced at Blushing Meadows as the midfield style of Indars Valsūnis is replaced by the forty-one year-old defensive minded coach Jan Willem Nijhuis. The package deal brings two very talented and young defenders, the Finnish Aleksis Mutala, nineteen and the German Thore Tal also nineteen. Travis Buck seems to be very pleased with last weekend’s transaction, stating that “there is a weakness in our defence that has concerned me for some time, it needs to improve if our club is to succeed. With the new deal in place, it’s only a matter of time, before we see progress.” The HC Old-Boys have a win and a draw so far under Coach Jan.
8-22-2010...(21:47) Little-Monsters add to their defensive line
Youth prospect Andy Parker performed admirably earlier this afternoon, in his first match as a Little-Monster. The central defender helped his squad’s side beat the second place FC Foxes Un by netting one in the 26th and another in the 66th minute of play. However, one of the concerns mentioned by trainer Darrell Sutherland after the match concerned Andy Parker’s temperament, which he displayed in the 48th minute of play by getting a yellow card for yelling at the referee. Apart from that it seems that the youngster should have a long and successful career. Little-Monster’s scout Al Trudgian had this to say about the new arrival. “Andy Parker looks promising. He is 16 years old that seems to have something extra.”
7-31-2010...(17:48) All and all...a good season
Though, tied in first with 37 points apiece, the Oldboys had to relinquish the title run to Crystalthunder United who had a better plus/minus record. The question for the OldBoys is what went wrong? The answer is simply, win all your games. The loss early on in the season to G.D Ribas cost the OldBoys dearly. It’s been over a week now, and as a great deal of the pain has subsided for the HC OldBoys and their fans. Team management begins the task of preparing for the challenges awaiting them in the upcoming season. First and foremost who will stay who will go, the possibility of youth signings, etc.
7-19-2010...(03:46) HC Old Boys vying for league championship
After today’s victory against league leaders Chrystalthunder United the Old Boys are in full grasp of the series V.223 championship. It all comes down to next weekends encounter at Blushing Meadows Park against G.D. Ribas, a strong well rounded team that romped the Old Boys 6-0 in their last meeting at Eagles Arena. Manager Buck believes the Old Boys have improved a great deal since the two clubs last met, and expects a much closer result.
7-1-2010...(03:49) Things looking up at the GMC Cup Edition III
An impressive cup run so far, as the under-dog HC Old Boys take down some of the big boys in the GMC Cup. Their latest match win has the Old Boys advancing to the quarterfinals to face-off against either Olympique Mayonnaise Club de Football of England or Sporting Wednesday FC of Norway. Although, the Odds seem insurmountable, manager Buck’s earlier press statement regarding his clubs chances was rather positive. “Our backs have been up against the wall for pretty much most of this cup, its nothing new. We’ll show up and give it our best”. Manager Buck also mentioned that he had no preferences in which of the clubs he’d rather play. It will all unfold one week from today.
6-28-2010...(01:45) HC Old Boy humble star struts his stuff
Star forward Glen Winslow the veteran on a very young Old Boys squad netted his ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth goals of the season earlier today, enabling him to catch up to Rubén Pérez de Corta of Chrystalthunder United for top spot in the Series V.223 scoring race. Another impressive display of offensive might by the Old Boys this afternoon, netting a total of eight goals against the Canucks. At the helm was their leading goal getter Glen Winslow who’s goals came in the tenth, twenty-seventh, forty-ninth and sixty-sixth minutes of the match - tying a team record of most goals scored in a match by a single player, set by Marzio La Delfa against Juve6grande earlier this season.
6-15-2010...(00:30) A hattrick and then some for Marzio la Delfa
A sell-out crowd earlier today at Blushing Meadows Park got to see an impressive display of offence by the home side. It all started in the 26th minute when Markus Abacka opened the scoring by blasting a shot passed keeper K. Craig, after a daring run down the left flank. From that point it turned into a goal-scoring bonanza, with Bruni Lebeau adding one in the 32nd, Rafael Díaz de Casriego in the 39th, Glenn Winslow in the 42nd and 44th, followed by Andrea Espinosa in the 55th minute of play. In most instances six goals for one side are more than enough. Not on this day however, as the man of the match Marzio La Delfa netted a record shattering four goals. The first came in the 43rd minute of play, followed by three unanswered goals in the 63rd, 71st and 76th minutes. Jason Martineau netted the lone goal for the visiting side in a 10-1 defeat. After the match, Marzio who was all smiles as asked how he felt regarding his offensive display. “It’s a day I’ll never forget, something that not many players get to ever experience in a career”.
6-6-2010...(21:47) First win marred by injury
Today’s match between the Little-Monsters and fc spasitii jr started out normally for the Monsters with the visiting side taking the lead early in the match. As usual Monster attempts to even the score were futile. Halftime would see the Monsters down and out, behind by two. The unfortunate injury to Labarrieta in the first half should have ended any hope; instead it may have well been the rallying point that the Monsters needed. A remarkable performance in the second half by the defensive line kept fc spasitii jr off the scoreboard. All that was needed now was for the Monster’s offence to push forward, and they did with two unanswered goals four minutes apart in the 72 and 76 minutes of play. Everything seemed to be going the way of the Little-Monsters until another set back would befall them, this time winger Blain would be taken off the pitch following a nasty challenge. Another rallying cry was in the works; this time it would be for their star winger. The offence would once again retaliate, not with dirty plays but with two beautifully unanswered goals in the closing moments of the match. Giving the home side a-much deserved 6-4 win. Bringing an end to an eight match winless streak.
5-9-2010...(22:26) Youth squad showing potential
The Little-Monsters have been improving over the last couple of weeks, and it seemed like they’d be getting their first draw of the season earlier today; that is until the eighty-sixth minute of play when Yannick Gauthier of the Minos jr put in the winning goal. The match was quite an exciting affair to say the least, as the Monsters fought back from a 2-0 deficit by scoring 2 unanswered goals, in the 78th and another in the 79th minute of play. Vital Blain and Aleksa Barać were the snipers, sadly it was not enough. On a positive note, only seven days away until opportunity knocks again.
4-26-2010...(12:23) Arghhhh
All I can say about my first two matches of the season is “ARRGHHHHHHH”. Just dropped down to 2427 overall, bot clubs are surpassing the Old Boys at the moment. Not to fret, we’ll try to make the best of it this season. Oh well, best of luck to everyone in series V.223. Should be a good old battle for first place between Montreal’s Crystalthunder United and Toronto’s G.DRibas.
4-5-2010...(21:35) Sweeping changes at Blushing Meadows Park
Manager Buck came through with his promise, now its up to the newly acquired 37-year-old Latvian born coach, Indars Valsunis to put the changes made into practice. Accompanying coach Valsunis are three much needed 19-year-olds. The U-20 internationals are Spanish and Swiss midfielder’s Rafael Diaz deCasriego and Oskar Neubrauser along with Italian forward Marzio La Delfa. Sadly with new signings come departures, Coach Hafiz Hassan who stated early on that ”success or no success” he would retire from coaching come end of season, has made due with his promise. Players to be leaving prior to the start of next season are Pablo Maestra, Alexander Orejuela, Juan Manuel Luzon and Thomas Pouly. We’ll be able to get a birds eye view of the changes made this coming Tuesday when the Old Boys visit Blava Stadium in Slovakia to play FC Grampus.
3-27-2010...(22:53) Little Monsters will participate in a twelve team friendly, youth league
Jock Trainer calls up Danny Cross an inadequate winger with a great deal of defensive potential, “possible wingback in the making” says Monsters scout Al Trudgian. Furthermore, trainer Trainer added that being the new kids on the block in the 12th player youth league “every training match would be a tough affair”. The little monsters are in speed mode, with almost no time left to prepare for their inaugural away match this coming April 4th 2010 against the Woolyville Buffalos, youth squad for the Woolyville Bisons of Alberta.
3-21-2010...(15:51) Main sponsor hops on the bandwagon
Ace Bullets, the HC Old Boys main sponsor will be helping the youth cause by donating new club kits to the Little-Monsters, along with scholarly and financial incentives to the youth clubs over achievers. Ace Bullets president Boyd Schidt said that he is more than happy to give back to a community that has for so long supported his dream.
3-21-2010...(00:51) An investment in the future
The HC Old Boys are looking to the future as their answer for success. “The initial investment in our youth academy is a relatively small amount in regards to its potential return “ manager Buck was quoted as saying. The Cooke street Little-Monsters will be training and playing the majority of their matches out of the Barnaby Cooke Juvenile Sporting Complex, better known by the locals as Cooke’s Alley. Match fixtures and ticket costs have not yet been made available.

A three-way race for second has emerged in division v.223. With only three league matches remaining and a difference of six points separating second and fourth spots, Old Boy fans could not have asked for a more exciting finish to their clubs inaugural season.
