Jenever Football Club, commonly referred to as simply Jenever, is an official Hattrick football club based in Schiedam. Founded in 2003, Jenever has participated between the 6th and 5th division of Hattrick for all their existence.
Jenever started in the 7th season of Hattrick and has currently played 30 seasons. The Gins played their first match on January 15th 2003 against FC DePulpshow, which they won (5-0). The next season Jenever won their division and promotion to the 5th division. Jenever won a total of five 6th division titles and one 5th division title, the absolute record high in the club's history. In that 23rd season, they finished 1st with 33 points.
Home games are currently played at the Mouterij, a venue with a capacity of over 41,000. It once had over 52,000 places, but was restructured several times.
The club was founded on January 8th, 2003, when manager and club owner Arphexa joined Hattrick, thanks to manager Foxfire who still owns FC Foxfire. The club started as SVV as a tribute to a club in Schiedam that played professional football, but to give the club a more unique identity, the manager held a chat with two big names within the HFR federation, Manta and Siriousje, which took a complete evening. After a lot of suggestions, one name fitted the club like a glove and had a direct link with it's birth town: Schiedam. In the 18th century Schiedam had it's golden century when the gin industry flourished. The standstill drink imports from France made the emergence of the Schiedamse distillery possible. From dozens of distilleries Schiedam jenever was exported throughout the world.
The club started in the 7th season of Hattrick in the Dutch competition and had some immediate succes with several 6th division titles. The club reached its top in the 23rd season, when Jenever finished 1st in division V.18. It turned out the be the club's last bit of succes, as the club finally relegated back to the 6th division again. The club won five 6th division titles and one 5th division title.

Colours, Crest and Nicknames
Jenever's colours of maroon red with a golden yellow trim represent the traditional ingredients of jenever, or in the English-speaking world as Holland gin or Dutch gin. The gold symbolizes grain, the more modern style of distilling technique for jenever contains more grain. The maroon red refers to the juniper berries, which was an old ingredient for jenever and chosen for its alleged medicinal effects. White shorts and black socks are usually worn with the maroon red shirt, however in particularly high key games the shorts and socks are both white.
The first official club crest of Jenever is round and contains the club's initials in golden yellow. It's ringed with a maroon red ring first, followed by a golden yellow one. The club has an alternate club crest with the juniper plant and berries as symbol. It also contains the two rings but has a black one added and Jenever Football Club as text. On the shirts this club badge is always stiched without the black circle and text.
The club has several nicknames, all referring to the meaning of jenever. The most popular one is the Gins, the English word for jenever. One of the traditional ultras of the club named themselves the Gins and are seated at the south side of the stadium. The other nickname is the Junipers, which refers to the juniper berries. The official supporters club is names de Kopstootjes, which means head-butts in English. A kopstootje is a Dutch nickname for a little glass of jenever (gin) and a glass of beer. The purpose is to drink the glass of gin in one sip, and that can have an effect like getting a head-butt.
