Overview

One of Malta's most succesful teams, 5 times winner of the Malta Cup (seasons 1, 6, 8, 9 and 10) and winner of the Kampjonat Premier in season 7.

Brief History

The Mellieha Knights was founded on 06/10/2004 in the Malta league, participating in Series II.1. After winning the first edition of the Malta Cup, the team lost momentum and finished 3rd in their first season in II.1, behind Valletta FC and winners Mellieha F.C.

In the second season the Knights concentrated on winning the II.1 title in order to move up to Kampjonat Premier. They finished the season with 34 points, a six point advantage over runners up Crazy Docs FC and gained prootion to Premier via a playoff against Bot team Valetta City FC.

While stuttering in their first 2 seasons in Premier the Knights finished 2nd in both league and cup in season 5, and after a further season of transition in seasons 6, have gone from strenght to strenght from season 7 onwards, winning 2 Malta Cups and finally also the Kampjonat Premier in season 8. Season 9 also saw the team win its fourth Malta Cup. In season 10 the Knights defeated Digger FC to retain the Malta Cup.
