The Spamming Spammers are an unimportant team in division III of the USA. They were founded on June 1st, 2007 by an impatient manager with two previous failed teams under his belt. Whether this one will go anywhere remains to be seen but it has already been a bigger success than the previous two.

Team history[edit]

The bottom feeding years[edit]

After taking over midway through season 32 the management decided training keepers would be a good way to get a competent team on the field. A reasonably priced 18 year old Chile named Javier Udaeta was purchased for a mere $43,000 to be the starting keeper. Nothing interesting happened the rest of the season and the Spammers ended up finishing 5th in the series while filling the team with cheap mercenaries to keep them reasonably competitive.

Season 33 was the first full season under the new management and would immediately prove to be much more eventful than season 32. When the season started with a cup match several players appeared noticeably younger than they were at the end of last season. Two of those players were the club's keeper trainees: Javier Udaeta and Hu Hangping. How they found the fountain of youth remains a mystery but the 6 weeks of extra youth was a welcome surprise. Another surprise was the team's performance. After getting blown out in the cup and losing two of the first four games another mid table finish seemed inevitable. Instead they won 6 of the final 10 matches and ended up with 30 points and 2nd place. Real Pudge had a perfect 42 points and promoted to division V leaving the title up for grabs in season 34.

The next two seasons were more of the same. The Spammers finished second to stinkyfeet both times and couldn't get over the hump until they promoted out of the league. With the main competition gone, the Spammers won the title two years in a row, winning a qualifier the second time to advance to V.19

Movin' on up[edit]

The quality of the competition in V.19 wasn't much better than in VI.256. In their first season in the new league the Spammers finished 3rd after blowing a late season lead. In season 39 a steady diet of bots and mediocre teams made for an easy trip to the league title and another promotion.

Life in IV wouldn't be quite so easy. With a new training program and a new coach the team lost 8 of its first 9 games. In the end the coach's strategy of conserving team spirit while the new trainees developed paid off as the team went on 4-1-0 run to finish the season and avoid auto-relegation. The qualification match was a close one but the Spammers ultimately prevailed with a golden goal in the 93rd minute. The next followed a similar path. A slow start in season 41 left many fans wondering if the team had what it takes to stay alive in IV. Luckily some teams went bot or just gave up mid-season so the Spammers were able to destroy them and save team spirit for the competitive games at the end. This strategy gave the team its 4th title in 6 years and sent them up to III. Just two promotions away from Major League.

Real competition[edit]

To be determined.

Youth squads[edit]

Several previous experiments with both the youth squads and youth academies had mixed results. No promising candidates ever came from the academy and the youth squads only produced a few transferable players per year. The most recent experiment with the youth academy has been much more successful. Although the profit from youth sales hasn't come close to making up for the $800k+ spent on the academy so far, there are several promising players in the system who should generate large amounts of money for the mother club.
